very well put forward the thoughts of a cultural change one goes through when they change countries.........i have recently shifted to uk and i am feeling the same differences in our thoughts ,systems and processes.......a good one...
In my well considered opinion this article was written with a lot of maturity. In one way it might appear sometimes and at times as complaining. But its deeper meaning indeed is replete with rather an appreciation spirit and effort for all the good and quite lively things India does offer.
For me it looks like she had taken out this above page from a big “novel " of experiences she might have written herself in her memories during her stay in India and has published it here NOW for the benefit of the audience. That's why at times it might appear to be rather not having a purpose. But that is due to the childish way of looking at this. So my final opinion is….. very well written, quite realistic and without any hyperbole

its high time people who visit India i mean the so called nris shuld realise that every country in the world has advantages and disadvantages and i have been to atleast &?ountries, and its foolish if people think problems exist only in Indian life style, dere r hell out of problems in the other countries ,if u cant adjust to the system of that country u shuld leave rather than blaming thze system and showing the system in a bad light Jai India
You know being an Indian you have to be part of Indian System, otherwise u will have miserable life in India. You have to spit or roads, follow no traffic rules, urinate wherever u want, yell at roads, at professional level play politics inside office, advice everybody as if ur the best etc... No wonder Aussies are frustrated with Indians.. And we Indians talk about racisim..We ourselves are divided by language, caste etc etc............................
she is right in some observations. ofcourse if you are smart you can have a good life in India.many do.i didnt. the observation that India was like herself as a teenager is perfectly right.compared to West ,services and general attitude etc have some catching up to do.
Prattle, chatter, babble, cackle, blather, screech and finally dish out all the drivel but never talk seriously, too seriously on important issues or points. And most importantly never show any passion toward the truth or good evil of any issue or any topic. That’s what the entire progressive education meant to turn up dish out to the public it entrusted their children with. One can observe this trait in the very style of its writers in the “ modern “ press. Generally stuff with out any theme or point but all inane talk is called gibberish!!!
But any way it does contain some frank comments regarding one particular cell phone provider.

Agree. Neutrality has become a symbol of being progressive. A fad in 'Coolsters'!! Being pointless is the whole point.

Lots of people forgot the “ genesis “ of the progressive education movement. It is nothing but a planned by product of the philosophical trend called Pragmatism originated and championed by late John Dewey. Its central theme is that there are no absolutes and any thing is OK provided it works. And this type of fancy thought changed the criteria for objectivity of any issue or truth or value from being objective standards based on reality to collective subjective consciousness. Even William James philosophical outlook contributed some major premises for this thought, still the main bedrock for this philosophy is Immanuel Kant’s quite dubious theory and claim that one can never perceive the reality as it is or in its full flesh and blood (labeled as things in themselves noumena) and in stead one can maximum hopes to perceive is what it appears to be to a perceiving mind (labeled as phenomena).
And coming to specifics of this article…the author would have presented her experiences in a much more structured way so that it could have made it quite interesting, informative and cohesive. It’s like just chronicling, recording the somewhat random experiences she had and then finally tagging and equating with out any proof the experiences that she had overall of India to her teenage mental state or in general to the mental state of any teenager assuming implicitly as a universal fact that it will be like chaoti

(continuation)…. Any way her adopted style is much better than the methodology style that one can observe in the novel Ulysses which with it’s “ near-obsessive focus on external detail and the occurrence of significant action within the minds of characters “ appeared to me as a sort of “ vomiting on paper “ the content’s of one’s consciouness with out subjecting them through the filters of logic, reason, a set of universal value systems, drawing firm conclusions etc etc.

Any way she did an excellent and commendable job in the very style she has chosen to express her thoughts on her experiences in living in India.
