"In spite of the IT boom then not everybody was employed because IT needed domain expertise. We had hundreds and thousands of graduates but not all could be absorbed in the IT sector. There was an employability gap between what the industry demanded and what we produced."
Nag is talking about employability gap, so is the industry and the government. But are we listening? I think most of the students who graduate as engineers from tier-2 colleges are the eligible ones for the kind of jobs 24/7 has to offer, but are these students getting enough employability training to be able to get through the selection process as Nag says?
Hiring people by nos. is not that important, important is what we are paying them.Average salary one Indian gets is not sufficient to meet their regular expenses. Look at the price hike during past six years.Commodity prices have gone up by almost 150%,real state by 600 %.Has any company given increments in that proportion. Our policy makers are asleep. What we have to be proud of.All major technological items are brought from outside. We do not have enough sugar to support our demands for a year. What else we do not have a good Kartoon Show for our children. I may be sounding negative but it hurts me to see incapable bunch of politicians who turn out to be criminals, deciding our fate. I urge young people to protest at least what is wrong.Look what happened months after TAJ/OBEROI attacks.
