IIM's
by Guest on Sep 12, 2009 01:07 AM

I am a student of TIME and I personally believe that in terms of preparing students for CAT, they are doing a excellent job, at least that's what I can say for Mumbai center. At first, even I was attracted by the advert which had TIME claiming 1000 students in IIMs. I did a research asking ex-students of TIME, and they definitely recommended me TIME (Well, they didn't made it to the hallowed IIM's, but they were very much satisfied by their teaching). After 6 months in TIME, I can personally recommend that TIME definitely does a excellent job in teaching, whether the claims are true or not is another matter.

Go for Defence Indigenisation
by MGR on Sep 06, 2009 04:29 PM

Indian Defence is buying equipments worth several Billion Dollars from developed countries because Technology to manufacture are not available.
Indian Govt should educate youngsters in such a way to produce these in India.

IIMs fee is so high!
by gopal mittal on Sep 02, 2009 04:28 PM  | Hide replies

These IIMs have made education a commodity.
Fees are high, so that IIM management can divert the fund to their personal accounts, by over-valued work contracts and kick-back.

Please improve your language skills- Commoditized education would mean cheap training, which is how education should be. IIM fees are nothing compared to what private B-schools are charging, who have made education a luxury item for the privileged few. How are work contracts related to fees- seems you are involved in some of these kickbacks? There is something called as an audit in today's world- no wonder people like you can't make it to any IIM. In any case, this article is about coaching institutes.

Sounds like sour grapes.Commies like you want everybody to survive and not live. If they make money, they work for it.

Disclaimer: I belong to one IIM.

TIME claims 1000 plus...Career Launcher claims 1000 plus....IMS claims 1000 plus.....the fact is that the 3 lists will have many common names....who is feeding off on whose efforts or who is free riding on the efforts of which insti is difficult to fathom......

Credibility is important and credibilty comes with faculty experience and background, coaching infrastructure, physical infrastructure and student faculty interaction.....and on all these counts except the last one, IMS scores heavily....

T.I.M.E. should do some soul searching
by Bigbang on Sep 02, 2009 03:50 PM  | Hide replies

T.I.M.E. claims success even of those students who have got calls from the IIM's and have joined the GD/PI Preparation.
T.I.M.E. had no hand in preparing these students for the CAT Exams. They have lured these students for a free camp to prepare them for the GD/PI.
T.I.M.E. also claims those students who have joined them for the Test Series. Here also T.I.M.E. has no hand in the preparation of the students.
How can T.I.M.E. claim the success of these students.

Of the students who join T.I.M.E. for the classroom coaching, it is only the very ordinary that attend the classroom. The others who get calls have been preparing for the CAT FOR MANY YEARS. They had to join some institute and they have joined T.I M. E.

Even the people at T.I.M.E. know that they have been instrumental in only a couple of a dozen students in getting into the IIMs. The balance 1000 students would have got into the IIMs without T.I.M.E..

Just by having a receipt of a few hundred rupees cut in the names of the selected students does not give T.I.M.E. authority to claim their success.
Before going to the ASCI, T.I.M.E. authorities should have done some soul searching. Last but not the least, the people at T.I.M.E. & Career Launchers, Career Forum are all ex IIMs. They should be doing something more important than preparing the students for the CAT.

With or without T.I.M.E. the best students will be getting into the IIMs.

IIM qualifiers have put in efforts for many years. How can T.I.M.E. claim them.

abslotely true. there is nothing like ethics in education any more. conduct an all india free mock CAT and you can claim all the seats to IIMs as your own.
unfortunately even aspirants do not realise it. SIZE matters to them too, if there are genuine teachers to hellp them they dont value it.
second, half the people who enrol to these great institutes drop out in less than 3 months...losers the students....

I think u ppl are getting it all wrong!! institutes dont create toppers.....meither does TIME claim to do so. I t only guides the aspirants. no fool would be foolish enough to say that they have put students in IIMs. They only guide u on tips and tricks which otherwise is very tough to hit upon. thats all they do. rest is our effort. and yes brilliants will always be briloiants. they might not need guidance, but there are many hard working ppl who put in their best but still lose out due to lack of tactics. its they who require coaching.the institutes are for them....not for brilliants or escapists.

Raze the IIMs and IITs to the ground
by Vivek Dev on Sep 02, 2009 02:56 PM  | Hide replies

Even Lalu Prasad Yadav fooled the IIM walas with his railway budget. These designer institutes only produce grads who want to live off the fat of the land. They add zilch value to anything, it is just because it is public money that funds Indian corporates that these people get obscene salaries.
These institutes need to be razed and the prime land they are built on should be put to good use for housing people.

@anonymous You are entitled to your cheap thrills. Thanks for proving my point. Perhaps that is what they teach at IITs. What quality education are you talking about. With your quality education I think you would not be able to recognise quality if it walked down the street and whacked you across the face.

Mr Lee,
1)the moment you step out of airport/railway station in New Delhi you know you have landed amidst cheats.BTW,I am neither from Bihar nor UP.
2)Try doing any biz transaction in Delhi and 8 out of 10 times you may get a shocker compared to Mumbai or Bangalore.
Just two comments for now.

Dont regionalise corruption. TIMES OF INDIA has published in the year 2005 that most corrupt states are different from what you have named.
Secondly I am not from BIHAR or UP, but I have resided and studied in all the parts of the country.
Corruption has become part of our moral fabric and eroding India's potential to become a super power....Read late NANI PALKIWALA's essays.

read my other comment pls. that was just a sarcastic question put to 'kid'.

i just assumed that he is from one of the two states as my experiences with people from different parts of the country has convinced me that people from the abovementioned two states are highly critical of delhiites. the possible reason could be the treatment they are meted out by delhiites.

mys stand regarding corruption is clear - it is always an individual who is a crook/dishonest/cheat...and not the influence of religion or community.

ironically in the recent past most of the biggest frauds - passport, visa, bogus resumes, doctored SAP training and mother of all finacial irregularity (SATYAM___MAYTAS) has originated in HYDERABAD.
Dr Dharmadas Teja of early 1950's was also from Hyderabad, after him all the crooks in 60's hindi movies are named TEJA.
The statistics says differently.
SO DONT REGIONALISE CROOKS. CROOKS DONT HAVE CASTE, CREED AND RELIGION.

well, that means that there are two famous centers of Fraud in India. For small scale Frauds, you can avail training in Delhi. For corporate frauds, you can avail training in Hyderabad.
I have been to Hyd and it is a nice city. The frauds involved are all monetary.

BTW, Delhi does have large cases of fraud compared to India coz ppl in North India lack ethics. No wonder ppl beat you up everywhere. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Assam Australia (Look at the names of ppl beaten). Nithari Kand, Arushi Murder Case, BMW case, Fake Medicine, Kidney rackets, Sex Scandals, skewed Sex Ratio, Khap killings, eve teasing of Girls, et al. When such things come up first thing I reglarly hear in news
" in Noida, ..."
" in a village in UP...'
" in Delhi...."

and thankfully I am not from UP or Bihar or any part of North India.
