Everyone would be serious!!
by jawahar r on Nov 23, 2009 05:26 PM

I read all the comments that did sound negative of visiting places for publicity. I know Kartheeban for a long time. This guy is very serious and he doesn't do just for style. As a matter of fact, needy people need time from others. So, even if someone does such things as a hobby or as a passion, the purpose would get served atleast to some extent. Something is mobilizing isn't it? Moreover, the perceptions would keep changing in people. The hobbyists would get serious obviously. Just encourage them please... we were all kids. Some got matured early, some need more time. Still they are our brothers!

who said they don't go
by coolguy coolguy on Nov 03, 2009 09:59 AM

i have seen young people from our poster boy software companies visiting these orphanage and government school as a means of another weekend outing after getting bored of normal mall-movie stuff.
frankly speaking,i don't think they are really serious about this and only see this as a weekend outing, and will proudly publicize their visits,
they visits different spots every weekend,
which shows they are not serious in solving problem.had they been, they would rather stick to one school or orphanage every week for 1 whole year and change at least one life, rather then touching 52 different places, showing off their laptops,projecters,..and achieve nothing in real..etc.
sorry for playing devil here, but that what i feel,
i would rather be content in teaching my maid's kid free and supporting their education..

And when we rise everyone will rise with us.
by srijon das on Nov 03, 2009 07:53 AM

its all about our willingness to fix things.

I am 28 and although I donot go to orpahanages I try to contribute my part of donation to CRY or which ever organization is doing a good socio economic work.

I donot cry about anything, bad roads, bad politicians, bad terrorists. I know these are all symptoms of a poor and weak society. I will work my way out and I will help others too.

Dont worry my friend .. we will rise. we will definitely rise !!!
And when we rise everyone will rise with us.

Keep peace at heart and struggle for the better.

JAI HIND !!!!!!

something more about this activity...
by ankit rupda on Nov 02, 2009 11:50 PM

I would like to draw attention here about one more point. The title of the article is "why youth doesn't go to orphanage". I know some young bloods (as well sometimes myself also!) who go to this kind of places. But do you know what is the real problem?

These people go to most of the "famous" places, or to the places which are comfortable to them! And generally these places are very much well off! For example, I leave in navi mumbai. And there is an orphange in vashi. many people visit it regularly. It gets lot and lot of alms and money! may be... more then needed even! While, there is one orphanage in the remote area of navi mumbai. That is "Rohinjan Villege" which is nearby Taloja. It is "somwhat" far from the residential area, but not totally out of the reach!! Very few people go there to meet those children! These kids are starving for support, starving for love! Before sometime, when me and one of my friend went there, they became too much happy, because as it is a far place, very less people come to meet them! So, while choosing where to fulfill their social responsibility, young guns should think about this aspect also...

Just a thought!!!

Think about it!!

"Give to thy who REALLY need it!!"

by Vijay B on Nov 02, 2009 03:59 AM  | Hide replies

perhaps not... because they aren't a vote bank..

f*k all politicians. they are soul sucking leeches. same with the obc generation who proudly tout their caste to get free stuff at the cost of hardworking students.

The value systems that have been handed down to the youth of today are absolutely lopsided. Very few have patriotism or love for the country. We are divided by bariers of caste, creed & religion and we have become corrupt and totally insensitive to the suferings of the not so fortunate!! For example how many of us would allow our children to play with children form poorer families or even our servants' children??it is time for some soul searching as to what values we are going to hand down to our children

Indian young with western heart, mind and soul
by SHIJIKUMAR THANKAPPAN on Nov 01, 2009 09:43 AM  | Hide replies

The wresternization resulted due to 50 yrs of one party rule in India has made our youngsters feel that anything from west is better than India.. This is the ineferiority that British sowed in us.. nothing is alright in India now... every system is corrupt and misused by party in power.. One party has taken over control of everything .. and today's younger generation like the previous generation have accepted that the system will be miserable and cannot be changed.. Worse is the younger clad have no character... Education should make one patriotic, freindly and compassionate..

Donating money is easy. Anyone can do it to appease conscience. What is difficult to spend Time, Energy and Money. In that order. That is real service.

It is easy to convince a western youth to do the above, but not the Indian youth. They are so obsessed with media-peddled sense pleasures.
