Best way to manage finances
by Debasish Chaudhuri on Oct 26, 2009 12:06 PM

This is a good break up, very ideal and difficult to follow:

assume a net income = Rs 10000/month

savings = 33% = 3300
emergency fund=7% = 700
Monthly expense=60% = 6000

Savings: Rs. 3300 break up
-----------------------------
PPF/PF/Govt bond etc.= 25% = 825
Equity Fund = 25% = 825
Insurance = 10%= 330
Stock = 20% = 660
FD/oth.safe inv= 20% = 660

Monthly expense:Rs 6000 break up
-----------------------------------
Rent/Home loan etc=20%=1200
Groceries/Provisions etc=50% = 3000
entertainment = 10% = 600
Utilities/Bills = 5% = 300
Child Edu = 5% = 300
Misc/Others = 10% = 600

The above is the ideal breakup which
is very good in theory, but I am trying to
match a close nearer,very tough.

don't keep any credit cards , know your limits/budget , buy groceries / house hold items at good old shops near by you , aviod shopping malls purchase etc , etc . infact what your gransd parents did is absolutely perfect , there is no better/risk free savings than traditional one

Avoid eat outs during the weekend. Dont smoke,drink etc. Avoid excessive use of mobiles; dont give mobiles to your school children etc.Mr prasanna pl think it yourself. We are wiser than our grand father/mother.
