We have to get over Foreign Fixations!
by D goel on Oct 10, 2009 04:16 PM

D. Goel Pkl. afternoon,4.10pm, Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009.
Of course many bright Indians have gone over to US instead of earlier OXBRIDGE syndrome of Imperial vintage. In recent decades Berkeley ,Harvard , Princeton ,Stanford , or Yale dominate the imagination of Indian Elite boys and Girls as well as their future employers once they wish to seek gainful employment after their foreign Jaunt.
What I strongly object, here, is this false fixation on "Foreign" qualifications , perhaps ,an imperial Legacy , which even after Sixty yrs. of freedom our Middele-Classes Brown Sahibs have not been able to live down . This must be eliminmated to let Indians make great works in India like Sahas . JCBasu or Raman with our own efforts. Not to miss the great Satyen Basu.,too..D. Goel

by ratan goswami on Oct 10, 2009 04:01 PM

(a) 18 Marks is the cut off for pass marks for SC/ST students in IIT.
(b) After 2 years of repeated failure by some SC/ST students Dean of IIT Delhi asks them to go only to be summoned by SC/ST commisson.
(c) IIT Mumbai does the same consequence SC/ST students appeal in Supreme court Great Cheif justice verdict give them extra coaching till they get the 18 marks on whose money yours and mine.
(d) Dont pay more to the teachers of IIT becos they are all the same category as the whit elephants of others.
(e) Last UPA govt lowered the bar of "creamy layer"
(f) Now what happens after eductaion Behenji Mayawati using 2300 crores to make her statues and the educated chief justice of Karnataka hugh court charged with corruption amassing huge wealth again SC/ST commission chairman Buta Singh says they he is framed becoz of of him being dalit.
(f) What Has Buta singhs son got to do in public dealings.
So bottom line friends - go study abroad as all the remaining premeier institute is going to the dogs at least the present scientists are able to lift Chandrayan to moon the coming ones will fall over sriharikota and we will have butchers coming from AIIMS,Jugar mechanics coming from IIT and Babus from IIMS.

Stupidity of the US visa officer or plain regulation
by Ravinder Malhotra on Oct 10, 2009 03:36 PM  | Hide replies

My daughter applied for a student visa. All her papers were complete, I-20, TOEFEL, my assets and funds in Banks. The chap would not accept FDR's as funds ...wanted me to show cash in my savings bank ! Some Logic !
My daughter resented this attitude and refused to go to the US and finally cleared National Law School, Bangalore with flying colours.

Wait two more years, you will have American and Canadian campuses in India, and pay in rupees instead of dollars. same value. Relax, save your money.

You will have to work with the student advisor in each schools and see what all credits can be waivered..look throught the curriculum and see wht all courses you have already taken..that way u can get your degree in 2 years.. I think thre is some college in Delhi which has a tie up with a school here in North Dakota, and they send their students after 2 yrs education in India to here to complete the other 2 yrs here..which i think is a pretty good thing... look for usergroups..they ll help u out..
