Well said. Is such an article to appear here? It is not even a news. Rediff shud focus on core issues of indo-us relationship and not such mean minded news.
The term Macaulay's Children is used to refer to people born of Indian ancestry who adopt Western culture as a lifestyle. Macaulay told during british rule in India::: It is impossible for us, with our limited means, to attempt to educate the body of the people. We must at present do our best to form a class who may be interpreters between us and the millions whom we govern; a class of persons, Indian in blood and colour, but English in taste, in opinions, in morals, and in intellect. To that class we may leave it to refine the vernacular dialects of the country

The grestest misery is that we praise the people who have left Indian culture and are working for dome other country. What is so great about Indian born? If someone gets nobel price then we call him Indian , When Sunitha Williams fly in Sky then we call her Indian. These people dont think themselves as Indian. If somebody does something great in India then only we must be proud of him and say that inspite of all the hard circumstances he did great work for India.

Cant agree more. Aptly said. This trend of media reporting of insignificant achievements of Indian origin people abroad is a form of intellectual and identity bankruptcy. Indians have become mental slaves. Who can get us rid of this mental slavery and obsession for the west ?
