Indians are bad travellers
by Nigel Menezes on Nov 17, 2009 01:34 PM  | Hide replies

As an Indian, I've had the privelige of travelling in South East Asia regularly. But everytime Ido a SEA to Mumbai journey or vice versa, its pure noisy torture. Im surrounded by a noisy bunch of noisy countrymen who just cant keep quiet. They talk loud, they talk to one another across seats if travelling in a group. I had even witnessed once how a passanger could not wait for the food to arrive at his seat and actually walked across the aircraft to take the food tray from the air hostess, and Ive had an indian complaing about the quality of wine on Malaysia Airlines.
We do make a spectacle of ourselves internationally.

If that was the case with SEA, think about me travelling in OmanAir with aircraft almost filled with servants and maids

'bad' is quite politely put! Ridiculous is more like it!
I think they should sieze all mobile phones at the entry and give it only at the Airport exit. Also they should have electronically monitored seat belts, doesn't matter if few malfunction as the manual ones are made to malfunction by passengers!

The following signs should be displayed for indian travellers :

1) Do not cause Air pollution.
2) Do not cause Noise pollution.

What all you people notice about your fellow Indians, I am a frequent traveler too in European Countries, they are even worse than what u said above. Englishmen can promptly say thankyou and sorry only, apart from that their conduct is extremely rude.

So in an international flight next time u take two three drinks of Jack Daniels and go off to sleep, peacefully.

you're exactly right... believe it or not... we indians are very uncourteous and rude... we definitely need to change our habits in order to raise our images in front of the international audience...

Di you expect them to just seat quitely, sulking at the long wait or chatting in extremely polite manner and let the hunger pans wait? At they offered you the farsans, I presume? We wont go hungry while waiting but we would not let you go hungry either seems to be the order of the day on the plane!

It is better to be self sufficient rather than depend on little mercies from the crew who think of themselves no less than royalty.

In any case it is better to refresh & entertain yourself rather than watch the cleaning crew. Also airlines do not offer meals again on the second leg of the flight if they have already offered you once.

Rightly said by RKG. I am been in Dubai for the last 15 years and have flown almost 50 times but each time I have to take a flight I cant sleep nor feel hungry the previous day. Each time the plane takes off I get Goosebumps. The aeroplane is a real amazing invention of mankind.

I have never seen any one take bad food to the hotel cook with a complaint. The complaint has to delivered at the point of delivery and rightly so with the service staff. It is they who have to pass on the message to thier department.Coplaining and shouting are not one and the same.

by chintan jhunjhunwala on Nov 17, 2009 11:50 AM  | Hide replies

quite annoying to find even when the plane has not completely stopped befor parking people are already jumping out of their seats to take out thier hand luggage stored in lockers above.what is the hurry.the plane will not leave again with u inside it.the same boorish attitude i found out when a flight of mine was delayed due to bad weather and i was trying to get another flight at the check in counter.though it took me just five minutes and the next flight was quite a while away the waiting public behind started snarling.these same people will take an hour to check in their overloaded baggages.when a flight is announced one should see the rush to get into the boardinggate.can wait a bitbecause ur seats are reserved and the flight is not leaving without u.

We are a restless bunch of people as a Nation.I never understand why people like to stand up for10/15 minutes even when the aerobridge/stairs are to be in position.Actually we want to show off that we are too busy while we are late everywhere.Present population of passengers do have a further dangerous habit-not to oblige even to the advice of the cabin crews. They have to be doubly told to switch off mobiles, fasten seat belts or not to push back the seats. We are really funny people.

I have also wondered why people insist on standing up with their luggages in tow, as soon as the plane slows down on taxiing.
I guess they want to beat the immigration queue?

I really wish I could contact someone in Boeing Or Airbus to make the seat belts in such a way that it will open only once the pilot agrees to open them after the Taxi has halted

This is a great idea...this should be done atleast for Airbus/Boeing aircrafts delivered to Indian avaiation cos..or for Indians flying in domestic/SEA sectors...a electronic seat belt which 'unlocks' when pilot presses a switch after the plane is in complete halt.

While flying on an International rout and if many of Indian Travellers specially full of holidayers and company sponsered travellers are there, the moment drinks arrive you will want to disembark the aircraft. The crews became so fedup at the manner and noise created they have to switch onthe 'fasten seat belt'on a most clear weather day.

Irritating....
by B M on Nov 17, 2009 11:32 AM  | Hide replies

1. Passengers paying scant respect to safety requirements - refusing to make seats upright during take-off/landings, refusing to keep window shades up, walking up to the toilet just before landing.

2. Passengers trying to stuff odd sized luggage into the cabin holds

3. Switching on mobile phones, the instant the plane touches down and talking loudly on the phone.

5. While the food is served, going to loos and getting stuck on aisle on return...untill the stewards push the cart.
6. Take 3 handbags on cabin, one is lappy bag, and two big bags..stuff them ahead on OH storage before your co-passenger arrives and finds no place for his/her single bag.
7. Use the loo as you wish, through toilet paper around, don't care to wash and clean the basin after use..
..who says Indians are not clever?

1)Less leg space.
2)Announcing low cost offers in the middle of the flight.
3)Captain speaking to the passengers , talking about how high we are flying, whats the temperature in his hometown and all the useless disturbance.

You are either an innocent babe-in-wood or plain stupid to ask such pedestrian questions. Anyway, here are my answers:
(1) When the cart comes around, they tell the price of each time UMPTEEN times to UMPTEEN passengers with a smile on their face. Even though they tell loud enough, every passenger makes them repeat.
(2)Some passengers are jerks. They fumble and delay, while removing their baggage from the overhead bin. It is so annoying to wait for such dumb creatures that some smarties beat the crowd and start moving towards the exit. If you've not noticed this, you must be one of the dumb creatures. No need to blame our Indianness. All countrymen do this.
(3) You really must have an rock-bottom IQ. Even railways has very small toilet-cum-bathroom. Do you know how expensive it is to send the plane up in air? That space is a premium?(Next time, look at the flight crew's cabin and pictures of pilot's flight deck)Loos WILL BE small; Aisles WILL BE narrow; Seats WILL BE cramped. If you want luxury pay a fortune and fly business class. Or, suffer the discomfort, come down to earth, and enjoy all the luxuries you want for a fraction of cost, in any hotel or your home.
SAVVY??
