Carry a gun. It is that simple. White Australians have a long tradition of racism. It is going to get worse as they see Indians and others prospering at their expense. At least in the US, you have "immigrant friendly" areas/states and "unfriendly old-KKK areas". The average Australian is worse. As Teddy Roosevelt said: "Speak softly and carry a big stick." You draw first, and they go away.

Most of the south asians go to australia for work or for getting PR in the garb of a student visa, study is the last thing in their mind and for earning dollars they resort to all sort of things, this lead to racial attacks.Govt must check the antecedents of students going to australia.Business of study visa is flourishing in gujarat, punjab,AP and kerala.
Australian population mainly consists of british criminals sent out here instead of making them serve sentences in England whcih would have costed the exchequer a huge lot of money 150 years ago.
We can not expect anything better than this incident from decendants of those criminals.
It is not about law and order, it is about culture.

Srilankan tamils are not indian ctizen! Even though I agree that it was pure racism in Lanka and am deeply worried in what happened to Tamils in srilanka, comparing these two are utter bull shit!

the underlying issue in Srilanka had nothing to do with racism, while in Australia that's the case. Get your issues right before you start throwing crap!

It is not crap man! Where it is racism or critism, it should be carried in a balanced way. If not, nobody should throw the stone on the glass. Same is applicable, when we take about Sikhs also!! First u tried to understand this!
All students studying in Australia should threaten to quit...that will certainly make the authorities take notice and force the government to act. As for preventing such acts per se, no country can have a foolproof system to ensure this.
Re: We have better Educational institutes

India no doubt has better Educational institutes but the surety of getting a job is not available even if you are in a good institute except a few top of the range.. Doing part time jobs helps the students to recover the money they spend on fees…There no job is big or small…Everyone does such jobs temporarily or permanently especially students who are citizens and born and brought up there….When everyone does it you don’t feel bad about it since you are getting paid very well…But you will not do the same job in India fearing what will your friends and relatives talk about you… And believe me there is nothing such as sexual freedom there…The students who have gone abroad become more sincere because they have spent huge money to go there..Also since they have to recover their fees, the do part time jobs and even work on weekends…they do not have fun there like students in india have….Even they don’t get maids to do the washing or cleaning..There they have to do everything on their own including cooking….Eating out daily is very expensive….. But once you go there you will admit that there the quality of life is simply much much good compared to our nation…..

See If we Indian don't understand to live in Unity outside from India you will treat only browny.Learn you id iots who beat only in the name of politics.
Integrate with good, well behaved and educated locals. This will help to learn the culture and avoid racial concentration.
Undereducated working class in developed countries are greatly xenophobic given the thought that foreginers are stealing their jobs. This needs to be dealt with from a top-down approach by the government in the respective countries.
Live in a central and safe area: Indian students normally live in cheap and run down areas as living in central, student friendly areas can be expensive. Please include enough money in your accomodation budget before you go to study abroad to live in a decent area - do your research very well, preferably with someone already living there or the Indian consulate.
racism exists almost in every country but in Australia it is very very very less...some of the incidents have brought this into limelight otherwise, most of the Australians are very friendly, down to earth and honest...This is my personal experience...Believe me...

If the AP guys do not want to be treated like the boys in the above article, they should not demand for curd-rice and sambar-rasam in every restaurant that they go in any place inthe world...Naturally , the restauranat owner may not behve properly if yu insist that you want to complete a chinese and thai meal with curd-rice...
