First go and see your mother in person.Prepare a good meal for the day and serve her.

Why do you wish to take her to a restaurant during recession period?

Hallmark Card Increase in Revenue
by sukumar on May 11, 2009 11:47 PM  | Hide replies

In order to increase their sale Hallmark introduced all these days into our society and we also celebrate this day since west is celebrating.

But we don't understand that in west like America a son/daughter visits her mother during the mother day and provide some gifts to her. all the 364 days a son.daugther does not bother his/her mother.

In our country we live with our mother and we spend most of our time with her while we are at home. I don't understand why we consider this as a special day.

For us all the 365 days should be mother's day.

All you need is to love you mother, truly.
by Arun Prasad on May 11, 2009 10:14 PM

Love won't cost you much. You do that for all thorough the year. Not just on a day.

Whole concept of "Mothers Day" or "Valentines Day" or "Any Day" for that matter, is just for commercialization. People who can afford indulge in extravaganza. Rest do what they do everyday.

haaa.. Nicely said. Since when did she start celeberating this special day. May be she will regret saying this in public when she have few kids and they follow her article.

Mothers are for everyday. Not for one day.
Also how can someone say I will not do anything for mother since I do not have a job. Which good mother care about yoru money anyways. A mother is a mother she is like God.

Live with Indian culture. Do nto follow the stupid west. We are rich with feelings.

10 cents worth from someone lived in US for 20 years. Motehr's day in this country is a marketing deal. Businesses make good profit the day. So they spread this to the world.

We stupid Indians follow this blindly. We should teach this people what is mother means. They only have seen mothers divorcing their dads in early age and living on their own having boy friends changing every week.

Sheer Nonsense....
by imran patel on May 11, 2009 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

This is sheer nonsense and part of the American "Junk Food".

Money is not the substitute for love.

There are good things about the West...We need to be cognizant and filter out the bad things.

I am a Muslim and the importance of Mothers cannot be emphasized by a stupid mothers day.

Here are some views regarding Mothers from the Islamic perspective. I am sure my Hindu brothers will have similar things to share. We do not need a mothers days. It is all commercialized.

- If there is any person important after God, it is your mother
- If bowing before any human was permissible, it would be your Mother
- Shoes made from your skin will not repay a drop of your Mothers milk
- Be kind to your parents in their old age
- Do not argue with your parents
- Reapect your parents EVEN if they are non-Muslim. There should be no difference if they were Muslims

Think about it....All these "Days"...be it valentine's Day, Mothers day, Fathers, Day..etc..it is all about spending...

There is no substance.
We need to respect and love our mother everyday. And care for them..not by throwing them in some old age home...by taking care of them just as they looked after us when we were infants.

America and the West have a lot of good things to offer. But there are an equal number of things that we have and we must cherish and follow these good values.

Indians seem to celebrate every 'American invented' days. Be original. We always call and talk to our Mom. Don't need a special day. Why so much immitations?
