I did not write something for the sake of it. This was real. Added to this I used to get bullied a lot in college and in general. People used to make me sing and dance and make me do chores for them. People used to tell me that they do this because they find me very soft natured. But bullying was one thing and forcing them upon me was a different thing. Till I entered college I never knew what it is like to getting physical with a boy and I never even had dreamt of it. But after that incident I only ended up thinking of boys/men (while all my friends used to think about girls) and in fact started liking it.
Dude, you are the prime example of a wimp. All that wimps like you know is to blame others for your downfall. My experience says , you get ragged just because you are a wimp. Your failure is your responsibility, not anyone else's. You can say maybe 10-15% could be attributed to the college crowd, but 85% blame surely lies on your head
Dear Students, Join THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS (India) after 10 2 and become Engineering Graduate without going to any college. Study at home and appear for exams. It is cheaper and accepted by Ministry of HRD ( Govt of India). It is popularly known as AMIE.
You can go for all PG courses after this. You can go for M.Tech, MBA etc or go for a job.
This is a story of so mnay years back - say nearly 25 years. One candidate was ragged in college in Medical College . He was from village. He went back to home. Braught full people Truck Loaded. All had beated the raggers like anything. Better to react like this instead of suiciding. JO DARA SO MARA. IF TO DIE DO NOT LET THE RAGGERS BLODDY ENJOY LIFE.
there's zero benefits about and with ragging. there are people here who say ragging is good. dud, get a reality check, india is a country where we have enough troubles to dodge with. from the businessmen or the police or the politicos - all of whom can show their might and power. then we have the darker side - the thieves, goondas, politicians henchmen, the local dadas, etc to deal with. well, do we encounter them everyday o. but we sure see them pestering people around us, or we get influenced by them. the fear is very real, you dont wanna mess up with a cop, or the beggar, or a goonda from a political outfit, or worse still - the minister's convoys or their people during rallys or "polite" vote seeking missions.
with all these to dodge, you want people to rag you ? are you out of your freaking mind ?

Slash five, When you are so sure of so many problems around you how do you expect all people to deal with them equally. Getting ragged makes you understand your weaknesses and improve them. To an extent ragging is very healthy as your parents and relatives won't tell you that you are sissy. These seniors give an unbiased view which helps you in facing the bigger problems that you mentioned later in your life. You cannot get street smart staying at home, u have to hit the street to become street smart. Even I detest ragging to such extent but a little ragging always helps.

True said. I got ragged in my college days. During one of the sessions a group of seniors took me to the terrace and made me perform orals on the them. That was my initiation rite of passage from boy to manhood. I still feel incomplete and I long for more. Still single and in my L8 30s and the incident gives me wet dreams. Melanesians have a tradition of initiating a boy into manhood by having him fellate older grown up boys. I wish they had similar such thing in India too.

Ok, Lets take the other way around, why not ragging for seniors by juniors. Infact, there they will learn more better as how humiliating it is to get insulted from a junior which is what exactly it happens in corporate which would make them learn more better as in our country, anywayz, we know and understand that seniors bully on juniors. Saying "You cannot get street smart staying at home, u have to hit the street to become street smart. " is easy.. How much it works.. Ragging mainly happens in hostels brutally and u think all day scholars wnt betetr than hostilites!!!! This is crap.. Little ragging?? what limit u mean to?? there is no limits for any little ragging too as its always been an humiliating tasks.. Well.. i feel ragging shud be completely banned from india and anyone making even little shud be severyly punished under the criminal rules. We live in democracy and lets follow that

what a load of bullcrap. why do you need to get ragged to expose your weakness ? how exactly does humiliating one by making you obey someone solve the issue of weakness ? stage fright does not automatically go, nor does low self esteem, nor does a few session of ragging make you a better man. if anything it will make one more scornful, and swallow one's pride grudgingly.
seniors give unbiased view of each person ? what are they ? psychiatrists ? most of them are out there to have fun, and because they had got ragged earlier, & wanna get even.
ragging helps people become smart ? now, thats a new one! dude, you are probably the kind who either rags, or keeps quiet when someone else rags you and keeps quiet. not the one to raise a stink and get the idiotic practice out. if these so called "ragger"s were to be dealt with individually, they'd all be a wuss. most of them seek power and empowerment by seeing someone else bow in fear or retribution. little else!

Dude, a typical fresher in an IIT/REC/BITS is a sissy and has hardly seen life beyond studies. A decent dose of ragging helps them face problems in life. Compare a typical IIT/REC/BITS guy in his 3rd semester to what he was when he joined college. You'll realize that mentally he has become a much tougher person

some would..some may not.. i do rememember many cases wherein some iit'ian has committed suicide because of attrocities been faced in ragging..it does happens even in top college like AIIMS. One in the top medical college in chennai wherein a fresher was chopped(he was the son of the dean of the college).If such things gives destrutives in many places, it needs to be banned and not to be even taken for fun as fun is what which takes a serious turn.. Tell me one thing if such ragging makes one stronger to face life ahead, why not seniors get ragged with juniors.. i work in a big mnc wherein there r so many seniors who are by age juniors and u got to face tougher situations which is common today.. why not seniors experince those in college itself as it will be more benefial for them. But it does not happen as ego hurts for seniors.. the reality is ragging never makes know oneself better.. its just an act and a foolish attitude of seniors.. think logical man.. do u feel nice if ur boss is always on top of head and humiliating everytime and later end of yr he would say u learn betetr things from him as much worser would hapepn outside..life does not run like this way.

i completely agree with slash five. ragging for sometime by sebiors dnt make u pefect. U r in college and u shud learn more urself..wit ur peers.. i personally know many seniors who envy good juniors since they feel what if juniors beats him in the same industry as they go.. all possibilities make seniors bully more on studious guys. They have got no rights. I rememebr in a college in bangalore, where a junior was ragged to one hell condition..went back home..got just 3 guys from his native and beat some 10guys together like hell to teach them the lesson that what is the meaning of ragging. what i remmeber is when these guys came to meet those 10 senior guys, they had a verbal talk only.. the collehge seniors started the fight with the chairs kept..then the fight broke and all the seniors nicely got beaten up in front of their home college

Prashant, Praising ragging is sick! Many, many of us have done reasonably well in life without being ragged. And we are not sissies either! If a person like you needs ragging to remove your weaknesses, then what else should one say?
And what right does a mere "senior" have to give an unbiased view? Does his or her seniority confer wisdom?
This is not prevalent in the best Universities in the West. So are the freshers there sissy?

all the western countries have the same precise problem of people getting berserk.. given that 1% of the population will be angry, bigoted, twisted mentality, or just plain idiots with a short fuse... then we have to deal with 1 crore people with guns AND... wanting to fix the problem. hopefully thats you at the end of their rage, or your stupid idea. not me for sure. farther the guns , the better!
