Why chosse an alternative career and waste a useful seat......
by aditya ramgarhia on Mar 20, 2009 11:50 AM  Permalink

I read these stories where these Grads from reputed institutes from IIMs and IIts choose an alternative field and do not end up using the skill set given to them during the two year they spend at these institutes where every seat is precious and there are thousand others waiting to studay every year without success. If these people had to choose an alternative career they should have decoided earlier and should not have wasted a seat which could have enabled some one else to earn his bread and butter. I m alos strictly against guys from top engineering colleges getting a seat in IIMs as they already have a degree with them by which they can earn a living and can excel as well. All it does is reduce chances of creating more employment. Only God knows when we are going to stop financing their education when they do not serve any good to their earned degree and skill set.

Better than being an Engg MBA grad who cannot apply his/her analytical skills & domain knowledge right n contributes to soaring attrition levels; rather be an intelligent guy who has the capability but different dreams to follow. Who said MBA folks need to end up being in boardrooms!! It ain't imprinted in black and white.
Kudos to the effort made, to follow your dreams, Gaurav!! And for the larger part who feel he wasted an IIM seat; I need u need to introspect whether u r contributing positively. High time to think different! Reminds of Pink Floyd's "Another brick in the wall"
