E-filing is kool, but standing in line get stamped is pain.
by ashwin pawar on Jul 29, 2009 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

I guess, unless you have digital signature process is pain. True e-filing would mean no manual work. Here you have to get the e-acknowledment printed and then move to IT Department, there stand in long Q and then get it stamped. It's Pain. Last year i did that, but this year i approached Consultant. I guess consultant charges fees just for this incoveneicen.

No. It is not a pain. It is a pleasure, like sipping Jack Daniels on the Rocks.

Exactly.. why can't the post offices issue digital signature after verification of PAN and address proof. Now-a-days they are looking for some new business and selling gold. Instead they can move on to the digital world and enable people to move to digital world.

You just have to send the e-acknowledment via post to Bangaluru I-T office and you will get the acknowledgment that they have recieved it via email. NO standing in Qs and NO paying money to consultants. This is easier!!

Boss, kindly note that u have send the ITRV by `ORDINARY POST only to Bangalore. That is the clear instruction of the Incomne Tax dept. But, your ITR V could be lost in transit, or it could be misplaced by Income Tax dept, but u have nor proof. In which case u have no alternative but to file again. Best option, if you do not have a digital signature is to file it in paper format in ur respective ward.

Ramakrishnan, I am now 48 years of age. Barring the last five years (when communication has switched to the e-mail/telephone mode) I have been corresponding with my parents and others for at least 25 years. Not once, I repeat, not once has any of my letter/books/cheque/draft been ever been lost. I think if we provide clear cut address over the envelope there is no reason it should be lost. May be only in the case of incomplete or illegible address(s) the postman may get irritated and throw it into the dustbin. Or else Indian P&T is as safe as any other service on earth.

RAKESH DHIMAN you have to go back to your excel sheet for that. There is a column "Whether original or revised return". You enter in that Revised. And in the column meant for Receipt No. and date provide the Receipt Number and Date of filing the original return. Save it. Again check the sheet(s) for error. Generate a xml file afresh. Upload it. That's it. You have filed your return.

In the return utility or software when it asks for type of return you should mention revised return.

You have to mark your return as 'Revised' in the ITR form. There is an option in ITR form which asks if the return is original or revision.

After successful uploading of the return, one has to send the ITR-V acknowledgement generated to the address: Income Tax Department, CPC, Post Bag No.1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore - 560100 Karnataka
