I hate the question, "what if a situation arise during when you are completely unsatisfied with your manager" , Simple I will quit the job if that continues.
just dress right for the job interview. this is conventional wisdom.
But end of the day the the knowledge matters and also nature of job. Example for s/w pro job, if you go a to a saloon for grooming and get dressed in suit but has no knowlegde on the tech no one will take u.
But gromming in a salon apply in case u want to be model
had been to this hcl infosystems interview in the 20th century, i was kept waiting endlessly for the final interview and then when it finally happened, the country manager just asked me "tell me something about yourself" and sunk into his soft chair on a long distance call with a woman...hopefully his wife. Trust me fellas I walked out on his face.

Nice Job... poor fellows wud have told that you are not capable to manage stress..
IT guys are the best people. people get jealous because IT ppl are: Getting all the nice girls. Going to all the nice places in world.
but they should also remember that: Bringing money to India!! Bringing latest technologies to India. Bringing high standards of living. Bringing nice atmosphere for children!
IT people have changed the face modern India.
So all non-IT people should respect and salute them just as they do Defence people like Army.

Hey ajay, are you a joker or what? How can you even think of comparing Army with IT ?? No Profession in this country is as sacred as the army. Only the air force and navy come close by. So stop this ridiculous argument and go off to sleep! Jai Hind- Tyagiji
If you want to get selected, please have a deep knowledge of what is expected out of you. If you are a Java professional, dressing like Hritik won't get you the job, but the knowledge of Java applications will. Bit this doesn't means that you go like a bafoon.....point is dress sensibly. Secondly, communication should be to the point and precise, and you should not show yourself as outspoken. Communication is required, as the appointer sees as what and how the interviwee will communicate with the end client. Some times, people tend to speak a lot. Make it simple, be calm and be listened by the words that really are relevent. Third and most important...Thank the interviewer for the time he/she spent for gauging you. Something like, when he asks you "if you have any questions" at the end of the interview...you ask about your role and responsibility ....this will show you are eger to join and preparing yourself for the challenges ahead....and at the end say "Thanks Sir for investing your valuable time for the interview".

I am an MBA in Finance dude. Above suggestions are not intended on a particular sector. And moreover, IT techies work like hell to earn what they earn. So don't get jealous coz u retired with a salary of 15000, while some kid is earning 50000, with 2 years of experience. Its his talent, which led him to that position. You were an idiot by birth , so you are rotting in a slum.

Your points are very much valid, Mr. Rao. Too much stress on presentation, dressing may be required for a marketing job, but for other jobs your knowledge matters most.
Ignore guys like suresh, they don't really deserve a reply.

Mr. Rajendra Rao, dont try to prove yourself as one, what u just mentioned. Dont demean other jobs also. If u think that IT jobs are the ones for the most talented ones, you are fooling yourself. IT jobs are the most financially rewarding ones, not necessarily the most challenging ones. Agreed it need some talent/logic to program/debug/create or manage things there. Do u know that in many Govt research institutes, even like ISRO/DRDO some of the most most coveted scientists working on projects like 'Chandrayan', LCA, Agni get much lesser pay than average IT guys ? Things are better nowadays, else u wont believe it a few years ago, lots of these people used to take home not more than 10 to 15k. So u mean to say that these people are duds..?? There is something called knowledge and research in basic sciences, which is more difficult that logic in creating codes. That is why India created giants like Infosys/TCS in s/w, but not even one INTEL/APPLE/AMD kind of company. And this I m telling as a s/w engg myself. I learned far more better things in my E & C engg, than at work. I challenge all these IT guys ( esp. Electronics & Comm. ) who have are masters in IT, to claim that they are masters in E & C too.. That is too much to claim man..Programming even SSLC 'kids' with good logic can do...!!!

Agree with you Rajesh. Each profession has its own value and place in society. We cannot demean anyone of them.

Salary n IT industry doesn't show up the employee skills completely but rather it is due to currency conversion and also most of people works on abroad project. Ofcourse, there are some exceptions. If people r really very talented to for their salary such as one lak/month, India shud have seen more startups by now.
