Some medical insurances are just eyewash.......good in excuses to
by shobana nair on Jul 07, 2009 01:00 PM  | Hide replies

Some medical companies are just eyewash as they just give you some good excuses to not pay back your medical claims, even when you are sincerely paying your premiums in time. One of the excuse is the hospitalisation is just for one day even if the bill comes to 7000 or more. Can the government take note of such medical insurance companies if they really want to help the people who are in trouble with their medical bills even when they are paying heavy premiums monthly to such insurance companies. Is this also a way to earn black money,at the poor hapless clients cost?

ESIC or Workmen's Compensation, Not Both
by Krasny Ltd on Jul 07, 2009 12:09 PM

If an employee is covered under ESIC, they are not covered under Workmen's Compensation Act. Also I believe it would be applicable only to individuals whose salaries are less than or equal to Rs.10,000 per month.

Now a days, even small employers who are unable to pay heavy compensation to the employees, take insurance coverage for the employees and the employers themselves pay the insurance premium so that their burden is reduced.

I don't think taking insurance policy by the Company is compulsory. But at the same it is Company's obligation to compensate the employees in case of eventuality.

What is the Pvt. Company does not buys any such policy?
by Shailendra Mehta on Jul 06, 2009 07:27 PM  | Hide replies

My Employer has not subscribed to any such policy. Does the Govt/constitution/laws still hold the company responsible for such mishaps and awards claims thereafter? Also my company does not have any Gratuity policy. Is that an option with the employer or it is also a mandatory facility extended to the employee from the Employer by Laws/Constitution/Govt.

please note any 'factory' under the factories act & any 'place of employment' under the ESIC act makes it mandatory for subscribing to these policies under these acts

If he gets injury in the office party the Company is liable. But not after the party or for the disease. No Company makes it compulsory to drink heavily.
