It is an addiction that is constantly murdering the relationships.. No one has time to look at the outside world..... That is ultimately suddenly taken us so far away from our family n friends... People may nt be even talking with their neighbours bt have long friend lists on social sites.... Really alarming trend.

Very contentious issue. As long as the time is idle, or not going to be productive in terms of one's duties, social media are fine tools. But, being obsessed with the mdeia , to the detriment of one's more pressing responsibilities is not acceptable. There is a difference between a student andhis / her grand parents, a professional unwinding at home and a student neglecting studies to chat on facebook , twitter etc. In case of professionals, if it is seen, that, they are neglecting their work , to scan the latest arrivals in their pages or boxes n a forum, that will surely have telling effect in their careers. To remain updated on the ongoing issues facing the state or nation is one thing, for which we get SMS alerts from media houses, if we ipt for those. But to be more concerned with what the apparitions in a virtual are reacting to my write ups , posted last night, is absolutely puerile, rather harmful for both career and family. I am sure, the fast track professional environment employers do not give the personnel on their pay rolls , getting such luxury during working time. But what the front office girl will do at her desk, where her duty is only to show up her smiling face with cooling effect to tame an agitated visitor waiting for so long to meet the person he wants or get the work done?
Yes its very true that Social Networking sites are killing productivity at work place and in house as well. The students do not concentrate in studies and are not particular as they R particular in checking E mails and Status in FB type if sites.
It is not correct to conclude that social networking sites are harmful. It all depends on the person who uses the sites. A wise person will always look for the benefits in the networking sites and the power of the sites in the internet is unlimited. In the present day world it is not at all possible to live without internet.
One cannot altogether conclude that networking sites hinder the productivity in the factories. In fact the latest findings are that because of the deviation from ones regular work, the person gets a short respite from the boredom.
Knwdays its become tool for private sector guys to go for social networkind as it give business to them without investing anything... and youngsters related that to their status symbol and become addicted. Well said Mr. Ramamoorthy
If u view it from the other angle then you can say that the time the employees spend during surfing such kind of sites increases their productivity and also keep them off gossiping on useless topics,,,,,
