domestic violence
by Alokesh Bagchi on Dec 15, 2009 10:31 PM  | Hide replies

it is not always as stated.. do agree , males had been rough in the past, may be still there, but what about females, in numbers, Blackmailing and severely harressing their counterparts, just for the sake of satisfying their ego??
There are many cases, known and unknown.
They are getting even punished by the laws..

Mr. Bagchi,
Yes, that is a point. In our campaign, We haven't mentioned any preference for women. We fight Domestic VIolence against anyone. Be it man or woman, adult or child. Even Senior citizens are abused. Our aim is to make the society a safe place where everyone gets their rights, even within the four walls of their homes...

Misleading article

Fact of the matter is, we have a Domestic Violence Act, also called PWDVA. Which is one of the most misused law. It is very ill drafted, and it is heavily mis used mostly by "mis-educated" young women.

Vrery true! But the thing is, the percentage of women misusing it is much smaller than the ones who have been saved by it... but it definitely must be brought to shape in order to avoid abuse of the judiciary...

Percentage is immaterial. No innocent should be punished.

And why the same law is not applicable to women.

This is a better way of putting a more serious thing.

Women are blackmailing innocent men and are sending them to jail.

Those who drafted the law are anti nationals. They should be prosecuted.

As a matter of fact, we did help out a guy who was being mis treated by his wife and son. Also, we helped to direct a very senior individual to the right authorities for help. We don't just preach Mr. V S. We practice too..

Maithili : Merely because you supported one guy does not imply that your overall goal is to paint men and women equally.

Show me the stats that prove that you actually handled an equal number of cases of either gender otherwise stop harping.

Yes there most definitely is punishment for misuse! just that you have to be lucky enough to get a good lawyer and judge.... that is the problem with our judiciary...

Why should DV be gender neutral...
by startraveller on Dec 15, 2009 10:08 PM  | Hide replies

Why is domestic violence law made only for women.
Why cant it be made gender neutral. And what about slapping of children.

Though there is a special Protection of Women Against Domestic Violence act, everyone under the Indian law has the right to protection from Domestic Violence, irrespective of age, sex etc...
