I wrote the test in the morning session on 6th dec.I found the whole procedure a big nonsense. The security checks were awful they are not even allowing you to carry your handkerchiefs inside. The best part was the test which got stuck two times first after 5mins from starting the test and second when there was 20 mins left for the test. This was the most annoying thing anyone could experience you are reading a passage and your system gets stuck and you need to reboot your system several times before it finally starts working again breaking your whole concentration. The cat 2009 is a complete disaster. My experience of taking the test was certainly bad though i attempted adequate number of questions.I also think that it will be better to again conduct the whole examination somewhere in the mid of February.
It is ridiculous to see that Elite management institutes of India can't manage to plan, organize, do, check the basic management functions for conducting such a simple test. How they train/prepare students for MBAs, degrees. one can easily imagine.IIMs to renamed as Inept Institute of management.

No system is perfect my friend, it doesn't mean some institute is at fault!! Faults are rule of life and ppl must learn from mistakes that is management

even if it is made easy, it would be easy for all!! your performace compared to others matter in CAT so no use of making exam easy ppl unnecessarily hype selection to IIMs, a person with average intelligence and smartness can enter into IIMs given right attitude and hard work.
My system froze at regular intervals, but the online timer in the back ground was ticking . with every second making a huge difference in CAT ,i was totally frustrated and pshycologically affected . what is the point of preparing countless hours for CAT exams??? .so much for the great Management principles of Great IIM's ,they made this prestigeous CAT exams a big debacle and relegated CAT exams to a total Farce .
to the cockiness usually associated with IIM students. They derive this cockiness primarily from the reputation of the CAT as one of the toughest entrance tests for any institute in the world.
The IIMs have a complex way of completing the selection of their students. Merit is gauged differently for different sections of the students. Apart from the well known issue of reservations for the SCs and STs (where the CAT cut offs are much much lower than those for the general category students), there is the lesser known issue of how the IIMs pit students from different graduate disciplines against each other.
Within the general category section too (where competition is supposed to be equally tough for everyone), the IIMs set different benchmarks for students who have an engineering background and for those who are not engineers. Most of the IIMs have it as a policy to have a percentage of it's students from non-engineering backgrounds. In a straight contest (where the CAT cut offs are kept uniform for every candidate), engineering graduates (especially those from the IITs) will dominate the others so much so that very few non-engineering candidates will get selected. To work around this fact, the IIMs add the candidates' score in different sections of the CAT to his overall score. For engineering graduates, their quantitative score is added to their overall score. For commerce

or arts candidates however, their verbal score is added to their overall score.
Now, it is a statistical fact that almost all well prepared candidates (engineers as well as others) score much better in the verbal section than in the quantitative section. For instance, most well prepared candidates who have a good aptitude score in the range of 40 to 45 (out of 50) in the verbal section whereas they reach only about 28 to 35 in the quant. section. When the 'topping' up of the individual scores is done with that in the mandated section scores, the non-engineers thus usually get a 10 to 15 point 'advantage' !!
This is how one can find about 20 to 30 percent of the IIM students from non-engineering backgrounds.
But of course, most (engineers or not) keep giving off that cocky smile and consciously wear that supposed air of distinction !!

CAT 2009 ould be cancelled and held at a later date. Why should the students who pay Rs 1400 for the exam get such a bad service which in turn ruins their lives.
