CAT is an MBA entrance exam of autonomous IIMs and there are many other MBA entrance exams as well..
its not a national issue.. and pl dont make it one ..resolve it internally.. between IIMs and prometric..

by Anand on Dec 07, 2009 10:51 PM  | Hide replies

IIMs does nothing. Excellant brain goes inside and come out. They are the best and they will be the same even if they attend any other institute. What a sham this CAT produaced? I lost the regard for this institute.

The problem...
by Guest on Dec 07, 2009 10:33 PM  | Hide replies

First we need to educate the people in India the importance of time and a particular job one is on to. There is little or rather no respect to what a person is doing or how important it is. For example, this so called "Invigilators" sitting in the test centres have the least idea of what CAT is, and how important it is for the person who is taking the test. They are least bothered about the purpose of their job, even is they are aware of it. But we take lots of care to call someone "Sir" or some baseless respectable names. And we are submissive to anything and everything. We need to change our priorities.

Totally agreed. The thing is that these "invigilators" are from local college i.e. the test site. Hence, for them, CAT is just another college internal exam. IIMs should have taken care to educate them about importance of CAT!

All efforts are going to be in vain

Hey all,
Even I feel that there should be a re-CAT. But IIMs are autonomous institutes and they wont care about such forums and blogs. I don't think they will spend money and resources to conduct another CAT.
I feel sad about candidates who could not take exam due to technical problems but that's just bad luck and such ppl should again try next year with positive attitude!

CAT Fiasco
by seshasayee Kandadai on Dec 07, 2009 10:14 PM  | Hide replies

Isn't it disgusting that all the nasty politicians like Arjun Singh, Karuna who cried on top of the roof for reservation have noting to say about the mismanagement of such a prestigious exam? Should this govt.which was hell bent on the reservation issue not care equally for such a fiasco and those who are responsible for playing the fool with the career of so many students?

which national importance
by Dr Jayakumar on Dec 07, 2009 10:13 PM

real world is what you had experienced. Most of us had read things in street light; may be your parents rich and given seprate room for you to read and become a slave to US/EU. When you make real decision in factory/industry you will have environment which is worse then what you had put down in the above. Dont give do much importanence to this bogus people who loot India in the name of IIM. In fact you should ask these people go home instead of re-exam. May be prometric hav special connection with IIM people to provide such a special solution which makes them feel outstanding from bottom.

Software used for the test was a big failure
by Secular on Dec 07, 2009 10:12 PM  | Hide replies

The software takes a pause for around 5-7 seconds whenever we click review/next/previous button. This is a pure blunder for the team who has developed the software ( probably NIIT )and more blunder on CAT adminstraton who failed to notice such an obvious thing and played with the future of thousands of candidate.I would say one should lodge a Case against CAT exam and let them really prove in the court if exam was really an equal level playing field for every aspirant , after all there is Democracy in India and Indian citizen have every right to know this afterall " Party yagya fund kund NIIT ko contract ghotala mantra has Yeh to prajatantra hai "

it all actually depends on the system speed, and not the software.. and would hence equate to even more inequality and variation from centre to centre!

Hello AggarWAL, in my view all these people in IIM should take course in Digital age by Dr Raja ramanna. This is must for all these people and that will give them some confidence. I dont know, Dr Raja ramanana can share his time and effort in teach Digital side of life these age old people in IIM's.

It is high time, remove IIM team fully and replace our school headmaster to teach some common sense to these future slaves of US/EU via IIM degree

IIM's - CAT
by muralimohan rao on Dec 07, 2009 09:23 PM

IIM's - CAT

This year many aspirants failed to make the test in spite of their valid qualification and sincere preparation due the failure of the online test in several centers.

Subsequently there were several criticisms, discussions, clarifications and so on the failures. At a stage the responsible authorities kept saying that only HE can show a way out.

It is very essential to keep the competitive spirit of the students across the country by conducting the written test at the earliest in various centers for the students who couldn't make it due software problems.

Software failures shouldn't decide the fate of the students.

Conventional written CAT will ease such problems and test all the students on a particular date!

IIMs named for the management may kindly conduct a written test to relieve the tensed minds of the students!

Thanking you
yours sincerely

CAT , WTF ????
by tri mec on Dec 07, 2009 09:14 PM

Is CAT some event of national importance? So much coverage for some piddly thing like mug pots could not take a entrance test? We did not so much hulla gulla even even when some top scientist were expressing their doubts over whether India had the bomb or not.
