CAT 2009: 'The CAT is going to the dogs'

i am very sorry to state that what is appearing on this website on CAT 2009 does not warranty such serious thought and critical comments. my daughter attempted CAT for the first time this year and even though we were initially in chennai, opted for writing the CAT at Adi Shankara Eng college in Kalady near Ernakulam. every thing went off smoothly at this site and there was absolutely no hitch. i am sure that there are plenty more sites where everything went off well. in fact a guess would be that the CAT went off well at almost 98% of the centres. of course it is the duty of the news reporters to sensationalise every trivial thing to justify the salary that he / she is earning, without going in deeply on the subject matter. this is not serious reporting only frivolous reporting and such reporters, like their reports should be discarded in the nearest dust bins. kudos to deodhar and team for starting a good trend

YOu seem to be from kerala..So your daughter must be having pdgin Enlgish skills and no work culture..Why dont u tell her to join some Kerala Government PSU?..And stop flooding this forum with your rants..Go and read malayla manorama or some communist propaganda material, which suits your jaded and degraded intellectual capacity, rather than commenting on an exam meant for people with some level of intelligence..

The efficiency of the system is judged by the fairness of the means used and the transparency involved..Here, there's neither fairness(with so many people having errors in paper and some others getting extra time) and total lack of transparency(who knows if our answers have gotten registered properly).
You are right to point why media does it, but that does not invalidate their argument. Just becuase things went off smoothly for your daughter, it does not mean the system works well. Paper pencil CAT, for all its cumbersomeness, was fair and virtually error free. Now, online CAT is expected to be so random, owing to its systemic glitches, that the results would be resembling a lottery.

And please know about the background of things before you comment on them. There are lakhs of students spending years preparing for these exams.

Challenge to management
by Raja Srinivasan on Dec 08, 2009 08:45 AM

Justice not only to be done, but seems to be done too. Experiences like this pose challenges to decision-makers who need to be adept at 'Dynamic Management'. To continue or modify. Dropping the pretence of making future assumptions easily, a quick base scenario needs to be unveiled immediately to save everyone of embarrassment and chaos. "When the fog has lifted enough to make the choice more than a crap shoot" - decision making at the right time has never been put to test as it is now.
