Hi This is Aditya. Say it my fate, or say it dysfunction of the online exam system of CAT, i couldn't give the exam this year. Firstly, what happened with me is what happened with many students in this country and that was CANCELLATION OF TEST & RESCHEDULING of my exam because of server-crash/virus-attack or whatever technical reasons. Now, what happened is, they gave a postponed date, which was okay for me until my test center got changed to a place where i couldn't reach in 1 day. And ya, i got that mail 1 day before the exam. There was a helpline number which was my only chance to change my test center to where I want, but here's another thunderbolt. That PARTICULAR NUMBER is always busy and even when its been picked up, the administrator who has attend me, is also BUSY. Now I was out of options, either try this no. all day or just pack my bag and go and reach late....but i cant reach late. So, i tried and hence, gave up trying, as anyone would, and in the end, couldn't give the exam. I reckon thats their CRASHED or VIRUS AFFECTED computer again who changed my venue which threw my CAT dream for this year, in trash. I also don't think applicants who gave the exam, should trust in the results, because their computer can still act funny. Now the company prometric owe me a one good apology!
Let everybody (all Indians and Non Indians ) take a mock test 5 million at a time logging in will enable us to know it will work at the time of real test. Find who in India build the web based railway reservation system and take help from them.
It is really unfortunte that we in India, world leaders in Knowledge Industry and I/T ( with Indians spread all over the world when it comes to soft ware Tech), are unable to conduct on line such an all important entrance/admission test successfully . The least the HRD ministry can do and should do is to take a view on this matter in its proper perspective and advise the IIM mgt to dispassionately reconsider their decision on "ON LINE PROCESS" and conduct the test through Question Paper method this year and subsequent years also until they are fully confident of not goofing but seeing the process through successfully. This is the consolation which the Govt can do to the disillusioned and disenchanted students and their parents. Gopalakrishnan.

Prometric is professionally the best company for this task.Its not just the fault of prometric its also faults of the cat center who do not have a good antivirus software in their PC's, poor infrastructure in colleges and test center of India also responsible for this. It(glitches) always occurs when something is for first time you can not say that whole system should be removed. Its is also advantageous for bright minds of india bcoz now their is no need for going to prep class just for speed factor your intelligence could also get you through CAT. CAT prep institute are making a fuss of this bcoz their shop is going to be closed if the CAT goes on like this.

Have we not seen goofing in paper tests year after year...In compueterised environement there always a possibility of system failure even in the best setup. They should have proper backup and alternate facilties to have minimum down time.
yes...im very happy that there r some guys who wish to drag the irresponsible authorities of iim and prometric to the court.this is the only way to seek justice in india..look at BARUA in the press conference! as if nothing has happened...a typical indian babuish approach! such a prestigious exam has turned out be a nightmare for 8000 students and you r playing a fiddle! mother of all exams has been put into a computer womb unneccesarily and see what rubbish is coming out every day.!!!..come onKAPIL SIBBAL...act now or let it go to the litigations of court,,,well done ..whoever is moving to court..bravo!!! india needs such altruists..

What is the proof that the prometric evaluation system will not be faulty?? What is the proof that prometric employees will not help their relatives? What was the harm in prevoius ways of examination? WHat about transparensy of test?? If virus can affect the exemination system server What is the guarantee that virus will not affect evaluation system?? There will be more chaos at the time of result. These tests must be cancelled and new tests in the old pattern must be given.

But the entrance tests for MBA to all the great USA B schools like Wharton,Columbia,Chicago are online only.Why it failed in India?

Prometric was given around $40 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can u imagine mate??? Around Rs.200 crores for this ruckus!

world goes on trust it might be possible that your answersheet bundle of cat goes missing and you dont get a proper result and the IIMs just make a result showing some approximate marks then you even cant trust IIMs in this matter this no way to say this GRE is also conducted by the same Prometric it is worldwide test then also it goes smoothly so dont just ask stupid question like this you have to have trust on someone for anything.
I am surprised that no body especially IIMs is holding this co Prometric accountable. The natural reaction should have been an immediate law suit filed against these people by IIMs and IIMs appologising to students/MBA aspirants.
