MANAGEMENT PROFESSORS THOUGHT TEST RUN WOULD NOT BE REQUIRED, THERE FOREGOT A BASIC FACTOR THAT SAYS, "NOVELTY NEEDS TO BE TESTED BEFORE INTRODUCTION". AFTER ALL THE INITIATIVE COMES FROM IIMs. PROMETRIC WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE THEY ARE ROPED IN AGAIN HENCEFORTH. THE HYPE OF IIM'S SO CALLED BRILLIANCE STAND EXPOSED. TEACHERS CAN NOT BE EXECUTONERS, EVEN WHEN THEY GET TERMED AS MANAGEMENT 'GURU's
These CAT servers may have been using non-free software like Microsoft Windows and IIS, these may have had gaping holes which allowed viruses and trojans in. Exams like CAT, JEE and other common entrance tests should be run on servers having free OSes like GNU/Linux and appln. software. The Govt. should mandate use of this as valuable student time should not be lost. The Govt. should now monetarily penalize the implementing company for such software glitches and monetize taxpayer money!

FYI: In the IITs, it is largely the students who handle these stuff. And the students pretty much choose Linux for every server based APP. Infact our webserver at IITM used to run on Linux and still does probably. There is even a debian mirror at IITM.
It was stable and used to handle 1 hit per second without a problem. Unfortunately at the IIMs its all about the money I would guess. --- A former admin at IIT Madras.
