Yoga must only be practised under the personal guidance of a Qualified Yoga Guru as otherwise it can have adverse effects if done independently

Yoga must be done carefully. But your guru can be a good book as well as a living teacher. Doesn't necessarily have to be a Yoga franchise.

One can not rely on books, it is always better doing yoga under a guru

Books are not good. Varun. Research papers show that wrong breathing can cause even fatal heart attack.
