Boss related agonies.....
by SS Kumar on Aug 18, 2009 08:19 AM

The worst boss is one who is less competent than his subordinates and is unable to "buy" credibility from any of them for his leader-ship skills. Therefore, he feels threatened all the time, in your presence. My dilemma was doubled because my boss's boss had called me over and requested me to discreetly locate a replacement for my own boss, while working for the second largest global computer company in India. Thereafter the mutual cold vibes were inevitable.

part of reason is the sick work people are forced to do
by Devdutt Nayak on Aug 06, 2009 11:27 AM

no creativity involved
no ownership stake
no sense of team
ever increasing cost makes everyone opportunistic and greedy

no ethics education
managers promote divide-and-rule
attrition is direct result of divide-and-rule management

you want stable work without being forced to give stable and secure environment.
It can all be done correctly, but first the MBA and HR syllabus must be changed in college.

In certain businesses, dirty work needs to be done without any tangible result - the worker bees do it well.

In intelligent occupations if you give employees a sense of ownership and belonging, they will work better.

Shortest, most effective way to reform the present mess is to offer e-sops to all employees - including the labour section.
