Hi Mahesh, My father is a cardiac patient and I spent an amount of Rs. 80000/- in his bypass surgery. I had medical insurance of Rs. 200000/- provided from my employer. But the expenses overshoot the sum assured. Could it be possible to make Rs. 80000/- exempted from my income? If possible, could you please let me know the extra document I need to submit to income tax.

I incurred some medical expenses during last financial year. My employer has deducted the same in computation of my taxable income. However, as I was late to submit bills for all of the expenses, my employer has made deductions only for the bills I had furnished. How do I deduct the remaining expenses when filing my IT returns?
