Barclays had still not removed my Name from CIBIL
by praveen Bellur on Jan 20, 2010 07:08 PM

I had a credit card from Barclays bank and then I paid it off but I still not only get collection calls for the same but at the same time all my new credit card applictions and personal loan requests with other banks are getting rejected due to the great courtesy shown by the great Barclays bank in not updating thier own systems and not getting my name off the CIBIL records.

RBI Issues Guidelines on Reporting Defaulters
by Mahir Haneef on Aug 10, 2009 07:32 PM  | Hide replies

I've read through the comments and most of them complains of lack of transparency on the banks' side in reporting customers as defaulters. I was shocked to see people being listed as defaulters in CIBIL for as low as Rs 148, making them unable to get approval for any loans.

Finally, RBI has issued guidelines to the entire process of dealing with defaulters. RBI makes clear that banks should communicate with the customer before listing him as a defaulter and should try to settle the case as far as possible instead of listing him.

Full copy of the guidelines can be availed at Master Circular_on_Wilful_Defaulters

Same is the case with me
by Raj Raj on Mar 02, 2009 05:51 PM

I had a StanChart credit card before 5 years.
I asked for a balance transfer on the card & they did send me a DD, but before the DD reaches me, I had to make payment to my other credit card.
Now the DD was of no use for me. On the very same week before the statement was generated, I simply returned the DD to StanChart & asked for a reverse entry.
Instead of reversing the entry, they seems to have misplaced the DD & they charged double the balance transfer amount on my card as processing/late fee etc.
When I refused to pay all that, they informed CIBIL for my bad history. I am still not getting approval for credit card from any bank & StanChart bank people still keep calling me to pay the dues.
