For the first time in Rediff, Anup and the guys below have hit the nail on the head. Kudos. Now we have to wait for the abuses from the psuedopatriots and miscellaneous semi literate, superstitious bigots who usually write.

You are pretty abusive yourself. Oh I get it, you are one of the people who replied!
With ref to some of the replies below :What indians lack is civic sense. What we have is false ego and an idealised vision of nationalism. Not many people think twice before throwing rubbish cans into the streets or vandalising public property or abusing a fellow country men for his color, caste or language. We have as many prejudices in us as much we pride in our diversity, its a sad state of affairs. Look around and all you could see is people trying to get an upperhand over others. Global awareness and education would help India to get to that stage, but we are not there yet - just my humble opinion

On the face, Dude..!! We r always ready 2 point fingers at others..but WE ARE THE BIGGEST & BADDEST OF THE HYPOCRITES/RACISTS in the whole universe...one quick look at the rediff forums will reveal the intensity of the differences & hatred among us Indians.." Hindu Vs Muslim/North Vs South/North Vs Maha/TN vs Karnataka/Idli vs Roti /Brahmins Vs BCs/North Vs WB/Sachin vs Ganguly/Black Vs White(skin) and WHAT NOT?? Regardless of what the article/news is about..one can find us fighting about one of these (non)issues !! ..i dont know where we are heading.. this is exactly which was exploited by British to take control of the once richest "Bharat" ! I've a feeling that, REDIFF is pulling a "East India Company" exploiting our differences & making money.... Wake up my fellow Indians, lets stop wasting time on trivial stuff!

Hi Aby,Well,I am a regular at rediff and I cant help but notice how every other discussion forum ends up becoming some sort of regional clash.I was only trying to divert their attaention to something more relavant.I know I probably said more than I intended to
Notice that the imitating class of English educated Indians are not respected globally. But India in its authentic form fascinates everyone around the world all the time.
its called "make hay while sun shines"... french designers make millions while indian handloom/articraft people die in poverty not knowing that some of their designs are worn by models in milan and paris.
Any person who visits this great Land without any preconceived notions/mind set, will find this sacred Land beautiful despite poverty of people and other social shortcomings. Now the onus lies with the Youth of this great Country to not only work hard to improve the economy of the Country but also to spare some time for social service and to spread social awareness on issues like Family Planning,Respect to Women, Public Hygiene, "No to Drugs", etc to make this Country more beautiful and NO.ONE Popular Destination in the World.
