by Mathew Grace on Jul 31, 2008 12:32 PM  | Hide replies

THIS IS FOR BANGALORE CITY.

MONTHLY PASSES OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF PUBLIC TRASPORT SYSTEM IS AVAILABLE IN BANGALORE. FOR
MAKE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYESS COMPULSORILY TO BUY MONTHLY PASSES.A THIS WILL NOT ONLY REDUCE THE DIESEL COST BUT ALSO FINANCIALLY GAIN BENEFIT BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM. FOR USING THEIR OWN VEHICLE, TRANSPORT ALLOWANCE SHOULD BE LIMITED TO MONTHLY PASSES. THIS MOVE WILL DRASTICALLY REDUCE BRINGING OWN VEHICLES TO OFFICE. HOWEVER, WHO CAN ENFORCE SUCH RULES?

Senthil, your idea is appreciated. But most of the media are poletically polarized and no body will telecast these kind of docs for commercial reasons

USELESS article
by shiva kumara on Jul 31, 2008 12:20 PM  | Hide replies

Thanks for enlightening me with common sense. huh.. If there was proper public transport, why will everyone go for their own vehicle? There are no buses after 9-30/10. The buses in the peak hours( morning 9 and evening 7) are so full that you can't even get in. Every one wants to lead a decent life and hence no one wants to get into these buses. Bus takes 2 hours for the distance which I will cover in 40 minutes by bike. I can't walk for 40Kms every day unless walking itself is my work. My company will not agree for teleconference and even with that, half the times there will be no current in Bangalore.

Super! Shiva Kumara!! Public transport is ideal provided the services are adequate and decent. Otherwise, it is really bad! In cities like Bangalore absence of mass rail transit system (like the ones in Mumbai and Chennai)is a real curse.

Stupid article. 100% reduction by going electric.
by Micheal on Jul 31, 2008 11:39 AM  | Hide replies

The article is talking about things that don't work in India. The best option for Indian's is go electric. The nuclear agreement has been signed, so Thorium based reactors providing electricity for cheaper rate is surely the best option to run electric vehicles. There are already scooters like Yo Speed meant for two people and Electric cars like Reva. Also Tata is planning to come with an electric version of Indica. No more costly, polluting oil only electricity produced in India at a cheaper rate also creating job opportunities for the youth.

Electric vehicle is not the solution. Need to improve on mass transport facilities.

Really these are good tips for cutting costs in transportation. Also one thing must have been added people must be health conscious and start twice if they want to use a two wheeler if the distance they are travelling is not more than 2 kms. This will be a good exercise and keep them healthy.
