Academic reforms - Why not still?
by shokanashini on Dec 29, 2008 08:47 PM

The tamasha - This committe will appoint a sub-committee. They in turn will appoint subject matter specialist committee in turn will appoint a committee to liaise with the stake-holders, to have parleys with them round the country, to know their points of view etc etc. The tenure of the committe and in turn the sub-committees will be extended many times by politicians. The story will go on for ever which has been the experience.

They will never finish studying the issue let alone implement! May be because all the politicians' sons and daughters study outside India in internationally reputed universities. After all they are the people who are going to govern we desi university wallas in future. This has started with Gandhiji, but Gandhi, Nehru were different.

The National Administrative Reforms should also need to be implemented on a war footing.
Hope this time UGC implements Academic Reforms to ensure an educated India free from bureaucracy.

It is very surprising to see why Indians falter when taking such crucial nation building decisions!!!
The need of the hour is academic reforms in line with the report of National Knowledge Mission headed by Sam Pitroda. Their recommndations should also be the reference guide for the academic reforms implementors.

Planning commission, please allocate a surprisingly big % of money of GDP for education sector.

We can do it. We can democratise education. We can reap the fruits of such a proud investment.
Thank you

I think they should record all "why" questions from school children and display them through a website....

about PhD course
by rakesh maithil on Dec 28, 2008 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

this is a good change leading to major breakthrough in education system. India once a leading nation in education has got 3 worst decades in educational history. PhD course should be desiged more difficult so that politicians and other nonserious people may not attempt to it.
more over performance of the college teacher should be monitored properly so that their salary could be justified.

aashish pande,
Good education is the fundementals of any country.u cannot change the politicians with a u turn, its a gradual prcess.Good teachers can change the attitude of students.More over the educational standards of indian universities are the worst in the world.I would suggest that great changes have to be made along this line only then there will be some improvement in the standard of the certificates from our universities.

A good Teacher can change the whole world, not a thousands of politicians. A good teacher is only the backbone of our system. A good teacher can make a good student and hence a good politician..So all politiancs wiil be changed after a decade....

Academic Reforms
by ravi pandey on Dec 28, 2008 11:32 AM  | Hide replies

You bet..... None of these recommendations would be Implemented, at most two to three insignificant ones may be adopted but don't expect any noticable change. Guruji's don't like democracy in class most of them are worse than politicians. atleast politicians have adapted themselve according to democracy but are not allowing electoral reforms. but guruji can't tolerate any challenge to their wisdom

Yes as u said they wont whole-heartedly implement reforms.

The need of the hour is academic reforms in line with the report of National Knowledge (Com)Mission headed by Sam Pitroda. Their research findings and wisdom should be the reference guide for the academic reforms implementators.

This must be carried out on a war footing to salvage the very pathetic academic state of affairs India is in now.

Also, the visionaries at the center should allocate more % money of GDP to this crucial nation building mission. The future of India is at stake, otherwise.

So please act.
