This name is not known either to Tourism circle or to anybody who has not heard the name except few people who used to venture but I can assure you this place is one of the best wild life place I have seen which is neglected totally by the authority or people
1. Nearest station is Ghatsila (200 km from Kolkata on Howrah Mumbai route )Jharkhand state
2.Stay in a hotel nearby or near Phuldungri Hills( a famous place described in the novel of great writer Bibhuti Bhushan Bandopadhya,Pather Panchali fame .Ghatshila itself a wonderfull place by the side of great ,lovely river Subarnarekha ,famous for Rasmalai(sweet)
3. from phuldungri to 10 km walking distance to Dharagiri,a wonderfull water falls falling from 100 ft ,dip and dense forest ,no sunlight visible during daytime even .
4.If you are lucky you can see lot of wild bore, panther ,dear ,scorpion ,elephant are passing just on top of the water falls .
5. Never forget to hire local people with lot of Arms with them to protect
6 10 Km walking through the zig zag hilly roads to Dharagiri is once in a lifetime entertainment
I have seen this place in 1970 but never seen in tourist map of any Gov book after that .

You are right my friend. There are many other beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in India which often get less attention on web and by the media. One such is the big Similipal Tiger & Elephant santuary in Orissa. It is vast & spread across 3 districts. It has dense forest with a beautiful & famous waterfall as well. you will find Forest department's cottages to spend nights & also you can hire jeeps to see Royal Bengal Tigers , Elephants, Deers etc.

Thanks for telling us about it, always ready to explore new wildlife destinations.
The Kerala forest department has properly organised guided treks, rafting programmes and overnight stays in all its sanctuaries such as Periyar, Parambikulam, Chinnar etc. This is the best way to enjoy wildlife with a local tribal guide who knows the jungles like the back of his hand. It is also possible to explore pristine shola [montane evergreen rainforest] forests such as the Pambadum Shola sanctuary at Top Slip near Munnar with these guides. The fees are extremely reasonable and usually advance booking is not required as most tourists do not find this activity interesting. I personally find the Kerala wildlife experience the best in India at an affordable price.
