Quality of articles / choice of topics are POOR !!!
by Suman Dasgupta on Sep 19, 2007 04:14 PM

Sorry to say that the quality of articles being pulished by rediff.com are becoming inferior day by day.
I for one used to like it a lot when it came online several years back. But now I just visit this site by habit but do not enjoy browsing it as much as did it !! It's a big shame.

Hmm..

I don't understand this hue and cry over privacy of a PUBLIC profile. If you want privacy, do not put whatever you want private on the public profile (eg, phone number, etc.). In fact, orkut enables you to have the phone number, etc, viewable only by your friends / friends of friends / everyone / only you. So, what's the fuss?
As far as the swindleds are concerned, they are the biggest fools. One must realise that orkut is not meant for financial deals. This is not a business networking site but a social one rather. So, all those falling for financial baits are fools.
.
One aspect of concern I do share is that of the scrapbook. Scrappers forget that the scrapbook is PUBLIC and often write a lot of things that only the two share. THIS is again a foolish move by scrap-writers and i don't think orkut can be blamed for this.
Also, you can ignore profiles who you don't want approaching you.

Prevention is better than cure...........
by Farheen Sarnobat on Sep 19, 2007 03:45 PM

In order to avoid problems of being harassed, one must not make everything on his/her profile public. There are options given on such websites which helps you in preventing your personal details to be seen to a stranger.Try not to give email ids/phone nos on scraps which is completely unsafe.Do not add friends whom u dont know in ur profile, this will help not to give access to ur email ids or personal details to a stranger which you have kept for viewing only to your friends.Last but not least, b careful in whatever u do on such sites.....

Online harrassment is common to both guys and girls. So many cases in which guys experienced complete deception ; and some in which girls were victims. Online relations are never perfect.

by ASIM SAH on Sep 19, 2007 03:27 PM

will keep it simple...

stalker is a stalker online or offline...

it just that KK KK KK KKiran will have one more avenue of harrassment thats it...

pyschos are very resourcefull lot and difficult to reign in and have been active in cyberworld since the dawn of 'online era' :)

and if guys remember it was one of the primary reasons why yahoo stopped users creating own chatrooms...

so we have to live with it.... and just out smart them cos they are not going anyplace.

Its in our hands to be safe
by Devendra on Sep 19, 2007 03:17 PM

Orkut has teiific features wherein the User can decide who all can view our profile, (friends/friends of friends/all) In that case we can always restrict that strangers cannot visit our profiel and cannot write to us.

Rediff is a role model....
by RIP on Sep 19, 2007 03:12 PM  | Hide replies

Come on redifff....

V know that u r envious about google and their growth. SO u people, being incompetent will try ro indukge in cheap tactics like dese to blame google.

If people are misusing the fotos, den dont put fotos and odr contact details..Dats it....

U have started rediffmail which brands evrything as spam even ur friend's mail...
U have started Rediff bol & nothing to bol makes it a dull entity.

So instead of compalining and being envious about ur competitor, try develop some thing useful...& STOP PUBLISHING USELESS AND BOASTING NEWS ABOUT INDIVIDUALS......

Derez no point,i know in saying dese....But if atleast some people can understand wat i meant, am quite happy.

& the GOLDEN FACT!!!! Y R U PUBLISHING DEFAMING FACTS AS NEWS??????SEEKING ATTENTION,EH????????
