by srinivas ranaveni on Jul 24, 2007 09:54 AM

Telemarketing is not a fun. Its a profession.
Due to Tele marketing, needs like Personal Loan, Home Loans, car Loans & credit cards have become easy to avail.
Otherwise people as to waste all their precious time and walk into the branches to avail all these facilities.

Telemarketers menace....
by dhaivat rangray on Jul 24, 2007 08:32 AM

I too got so annoyed one day, I told the woman/ girl calling me that I ws a plastic surgeon, and interestingly her name was chosen as one of my special patients and could iplease have her bust size? I was ready to augment it with implants if it was too small or reduce it if it was too large... all at a ppecial dscounted rates... And the female was like didn't know what had hit her... and this was after repeated requests by me not to be disturbed at odd hours... Many a times I tell the person on the line that I would be interested if I was exempted from paying back the loan... Then I'd borrow about a couple of crores! But the menace continues...

Exactly Deepthi, A person who calls ur number will be calling locally even if U R ROAMING. Charges wont be levied on him but on you since ur roaming...

So Nikhil, I think ur callers are stupids not to realize this!!!

Just a minute,i have a doubt!!! The y would be facing a local call even if u were actually in London or any place abroad. Only u would be in international roaming (assuming u are getting the call on ur cell phone). IT is just ur luck that the callers havent realised this.

Stop it!!!

Hey Rediff....

Stop it yaar...these tele marketers are simply doing their job to earn a living....how can you make fun of them.....i believe you guys are working towards betterment of the society and not to have articles like this on your website...which creates a negative perception on ur viewers mind....

and people who are so-called harassed by the calls they recieve while they are in a meeting....incase you are in an urgent meeting you can always disconnect the line or let it ring incase the call is not from an important no. (home/boss/client).....and incase you are genuinely not interested in the product, inform the telecaller and ask them not to call back again (in a poilte manner)....i'm sure the telecaller would not waste their time on you if they know that you are not interested in their product....Guys,telecallers are human being and they are doing it for their earning....lets not abuse them or make fun of them....

whn sumbody calls up to sell a credit card during a meeting....you would abuse them...but lets assume if sumbody calls during a very important meeting offering a free trip to Malaysia, would u still abuse him and make fun of him??? so guys let them work and run their households....

do u understand that Majority of the Global Telecall service is provided by India...do u understand the quantum of contribution of this Industry to the growth of the nation???

Grow Up Rediff and stop publishing articles like this...Shame on You..

guys...stop being narrow minded....

there are far more major threats to our society....than tele sales call......lets focus on them first....

and abhishek....to clarify your doubt.... I am not a telemarketeer....but I am not against anyboy who is willing to earn with a dignity.

the telemarketing exec gets a handsome salary and incentive and they do fend for their own education....

Can you prove how it invites antisocial elements....

and 'an' I would not like to comment on ur feedback coz its against my ethics to stoop to your level...a telemarketing executive is far more better than you....

Thanks...

by faisal zaidi on Jul 23, 2007 09:44 PM  | Hide replies

Dear All,
Most of you have reponded you that you should not receive telecalls. But did you forget that Indian Call centres is basically depends on these calls. How many companies are surviving on these calls ? How much these calls have contributed to Indian Economy. Why you feel ashamed when some foreigners abused an Indian on telecalls. How many of your frinds/ relatives get a job in these call Centres. Think Think Think and think when you receive a call from a telemarketing agency

'How much these calls have contributed to Indian economy'?

What kind of dumb statement is this?

Consider this:
1. My bank sells off my phone details to other banks without telling me and makes profit for itself.
2. My cellular provider sells off my details to others for its own profit.
3. My personal details are sold off by websites where they should not be sold, again for profit.

All these, so that these good-for-nothings can call me up when I am extremely busy doing my job? What kind of contribution is that? Making other people's lives miserable by giving them crank calls and trying to push them into more debt and more EMIs? How can these people even sleep with a clear conscience?

I had somehow held on to my patience until a few months ago, but now thanks to these morons' continuous pestering, I don't hesitate to give them a complete earful before hanging up. Serves them right!

Recently I read one news items about that. The person told telecaller that he is in central jail for charges of bankruptcy, and definitely interested in getting finance. The next moment telecallers ended the call.

Calls stopped
by Vinay Joshi on Jul 23, 2007 06:29 PM

I used to receive calls for life time free credit cards, but I used to tell them something which made them delete my number from their records. ..... Come to think of it, if I reveal what I tell them, they would read about it here and the calls would resume.... so I'll let things be... sorry
