by on Jan 29, 2007 04:26 PM

By the way, till now I have attended only set pattern of interviews, in AC rooms and those type. I have not been fortunate enough to be called in grazing fields for an interview. Maybe our esteemed friends can share their experiences.

Dont worry Mohit
by on Jan 29, 2007 04:23 PM

Hi Mohit, that was quite excellent. If somebody did not find it useful, then they would not have read it in the first place. Friedrich von Schiller said "Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain". So do not worry about the stupid and negative messages.

Mohit seems to be very colonial in his thinking.
The days are gone whr you have a set pattern of attending interview.
Its shining India & at Interview think you are the best.
Be catious on being arrogant...but also be when need be.(Eg...mocking your personal situation)Do take a stand...precisely use a good vocabulary to put enemy at stay...

Remember that giving rit answer at rit time with rit attitude is wat makes the differece!!

It seems you have missed the point. The article is about interview in a business school. It also applies for a corprate interview. You are talking about a BPO kind of interview, which can be little informal and in a relaxed manner.

Interview etiquette

Mohit is taking you to slavery days. Don't keep your file on the table, Don't lean or keep the hands on the table, respectfuly do this and that, etc etc;
I am wondering if one has to really bend his back so much to earn a dog collar. If you are really good, you will be in, irrespective of whether you wear a Jeans or a T-shirt. I am not recommending that one has to be disrepctful but you don't have to compromise your dignity to get the Job.

Hi

Even if it was an interview for a junior level (e.g. customer care executive) at a BPO, the attire of jeans and t-shirt / casual shirt is absolutely negative. It would reflect candidate's callousness and short term attitude. To appear smart, and to maintain a decorum of personal behavior is not at all like bending backwards to get the job. Yes, it is true that your technical skills are important to get the jo, but to succeed at workplace for a career, one needs to have strong values and graceful behavior, mutual respect and people skills as well.

The inputs provided by Mohit are quite fair. There is nothing colonial about them - I would say it is more in the mindset of people who see his comments that way.

I had also given my inputs for GD / PI., esp for B-School interviews. You may refer to that at http://www.rediff.com/getahead/2007/jan/22msg.htm.

Regards
Naresh

i believe that the views written by Mohit is very much right & relevant. whatever he is saying about Dress code & conduct is very true. Definitely Jeans & T-shirts should be avoided while going for corporate interviews.
