Fashion- its meaning
by Ritu Jaisinghani on Nov 01, 2006 06:00 PM

Fashion to me means what suits me & what I like but not what others are wearing.
What suits me of course is the decision of my husband as well as mine.

fashion according to me means comfortability , if you r not comfortable wearing a particular thing u will not look good in it though it is in fashion, so be comfortable in whatever u r wearing it will automatically suit u.

Fashion is a consistent style

Fashion I believe is about making a conscious design effort to present yourself whatever your style statement maybe. In that context we are just becoming aware as to how design can make a difference to our lives.
Personally to me fashion is about dressing comfortably, looking good with easy to maintain well stitched, affordable clothing. Sadly this comes mostly with designer labels which are expensive. I have noticed that even a simple & good cut is available only at designer houses. We need more affordable brands with quality.

Fashion-Your take

I'd like to see designers creating high fashion for women with a larger bust, a bit of a stomach and larger tushies. Just because a person's a larger than skinny size shouldn't mean she's denied being fashionable. I have no choice but to shop in the US because there just aren't enough people making pret for big people!

I would first like to say that I am not into expensive designer stuff. Except perhaps, when I need certain pieces that I want to be sure are of very good quality. Then I don't mind spending a bit more. For example, when I shop for a career suit, or black trousers, or a sleek black skirt. ~95% of my wardrobe consists of finds at local shops around my area. I don't always shop in Malls.

To me, first and foremost, I have to be comfortable wearing what I am wearing. Else, it defeats the purpose. Our natural personality does not show through, when we are uncomfortable or very conscious. But on the other hand, I am OK with going through a little discomfort if it looks great on me. Then it's just a matter of getting used to it. If I still don't feel comfortable and myself in those pieces, I end up not wearing them again ever however great it might look on me. I think our clothes certainly tell people a lot about our personalities.

I'd say I am bit of a traditionalist when it comes to fashion. I like to be covered and decent. I stick to classy, unfussy pieces, with a touch of femininity, BUT, I find ways to bring some life to it. I love to mix and match. It really brings out my creative side. So I do like to experiment with different color combinations and styles. We all like freshness and change. J These days, I also shop for only those colors that could look good on me, something I have learned over the years.

I totally think fashion is about expressing ourselves. We can really have fun with it. We should also dress according to the occasion, what we feel comfortable in, and in what fits our figures.

fashion : Best tool for a feel good attitude
by Yogita on Oct 31, 2006 02:52 PM

Fashion in my view is the best way of self expression and attitude.I am a strong believer that more often than not the best way to show your MOOD, TEMPERAMENT and PERSONALITY is through clothes.

My style funda is to not follow fashion blindly but always add my own tips to the available apparel.I love the branded clothes for the simple reason that the fabric is fine and the cuts more classic and well fitted. Bargained non branded clothes also are good but arent as stylish and unique.Hang-ten surely sells very smart casuals. Folks the rule I follow, before buying anything I like, is to think if what I buy can be teamed up with at least two other tops or bottoms in the current wardrobe or not.Stay stylish.
