Thank you! for the article!Well said! Its true! I is alaways better to make a choice than to repent over weight gain and get frustrated over it. We can go for "sugar free" sweets asa a substitute, or we can fool our mind by taking in small quantities of one sweet for an extended period of time, that will help us feel that we are not deprived of eating sweets.

Rasgullas vs Gulab Jamuns

This is such a hilarious discussion! I have grown up in North America and agonizing over calories is an accepted way of life. If this article was posted on a Western website there would be extended discussions about how to lower the fat content of the gulab jamuns using artificial sugar, baking vs. frying, etc. Nobody would be criticizing the author for suggesting ways to reduce the fat content of a food item - they would be thanking her for it!

But it seems that in India, people consider such a suggestion to be a personal affront! Of course fried balls of dough are more fattening than boiled cheese balls. And of course these are holiday treats that one doesn't indulge in regularly, but all that being said, it's worth knowing how to eat more healthfully should you choose to. What an interesting cultural difference...

As a side note, although there are many overweight people in India, there aren't as many really obese people as one sees in North America. So I do think the Indian diet is much healthier. And yummier!

V.M.

Read well b4 u comment
by Pradeep on Oct 29, 2006 07:33 PM

A very nice a more cautious post for people who care about their health. infact the topic is
"Calorie Counter" but the sharing comments over here are ideas from people who dont care about health. in short, this post is for people who Eat to Live not for whom Live to Eat. Thanks for the caloric counter, but its more better if we have a counter for each food we eat so that to have a balanced Diet. the fact is i read the post too late after diwali and i consumed a bit more, haha. more posts are welcome regarding diet foods. thanks

Eating on lunch
by Rohit Bahl on Oct 21, 2006 02:31 PM

It is bad habit of having three full meals that is rootcause of all our diseases. We indians are not exercise conscious and on top of that we surprise our stomach by gulping down meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The better option would be to space our eateries over the entire day.We should take small bits in brak of two hours and take light meals during so called lunch, dinner and breakfast instead of filling our bellies.

useful advice
by srn on Oct 21, 2006 11:58 AM

given the constrains of writing in one web page, she has done a good job. the article tells us differences between two very popular sweets, and also what that many calories mean in real terms.

as for all those of u who r asking about fat guy - thin guy and manipuri-hip hop factors, exactly what do u expect from a webpage?? absolute nirvana?? if u were so concerned about ur health and two rasgullas, consult a professional, not visit websites. and hey, those tips on avoiding the sweets n stuff are actually useful pointers. i guess u shud know by now that nothing should be taken literally, and that there is something called ur own judgement??

ppl, get a life. go exeercise. if u were exercising, believe me, u wouldnt take two rasgullas so damn seriously
