What will happen to the PF account after I quit the company and not transfered to new employer
by Rajagopalan.G on Dec 06, 2006 05:02 PM

Hi,
I quit my prev. company around 2 years back. I worked there for 4 years and 2 months. I neither transfered my PF account to my company nor withdrew my money from that account. Can I transfer my old PF account now? If not, what else I can do to save tax on my withdrawal?

Tax Saving and Bank FD
by Gauranga Bhattacharya on Nov 12, 2006 10:58 AM

The fixed deposit, for tax saving, introduced by Banks, do not allow the depositor :

a) to prematurely close the account,
b) take any loan against that deposited amount,
c) offer that deposit as security for other loans,

Hence, prior to opening, one should understand these points and also remember that the lock in is 5 years.
