Ban on Interviews at schools in India
by N.R.Hegde on May 17, 2006 03:41 PM

This stupid system of so called Interview is only to judge the parents financial capacity rather than knowing the child's ability needs to be abolished . Interviewing the kid at this small age can't provide any useful info on child performance because of the simple fact that child is yet to perform!!...
Hope school management in India realised this soon..

Ban on school interview system
by Sairam on May 17, 2006 03:32 PM

This is a welcome move by the Delhi High Court and should be implemented all over the contry. My Heartiest congratulations to Social Jurist for taking up the issue in Public Interest.

The interview system was ridiculous and doesn't prove anything and don't know how the so called 'Best Schools' in the country justify this.

This is a issue in Hyderabad too, The private schools in Hyderabad do interview the Parents and the kids. This is basically to take advantage of the parents position in the society. A simple case being - A kid got admitted into a school because the parents owned a Ad agency and have agreed to do the Ad campaigns for the school free cost.

The schools should provided the admissions based on first come first serve basis irrespective of any criteria. If there are 100 seats ina school, the school should issue only certain number of application (may 25% more than the actual number of seats i.e, 125 in this case). This will help the school to reduce excess application and less complication for the final selection. Its just proper management of admissin process.

Admissions in primary school
by Anil Velde on May 17, 2006 03:31 PM

Admissions of tiny tots / parents?

Are we kiding. Today, literally all schools take interviews of kids and this involves identifying alphabets to a large degree. If a kid knows alphabets before joining even primary school, what we are trying to achieve? Is that all the teachers are incompetent to teach or there is too many syllabi to teach?

We must need an overall discussionto address this seriously.
