This is really a must the old maxim of penny wise pound foolish really applies here since medical cost accross the world is very expensive unlike India and god forbid if you were to fall sick in US or other like countries you may not die of treatment the bills might just give you a heartattack.
for your overseas travel no doubt you require insurance as in foreign countries medical treat ment is very costly but our insurance agencies behaves in a funny manner.i want to go abroad and i was to stay for one year on tourist visa only.i went to all big agencies but they refused to give me travel insurance for one year and one insurance company agreed to give one year in two parts but if i claim in first 180 days then they will not give next insurance for another 180 days that means even after paying premium i cannot avail any benefit for first 180 days.can anybody explain me the logic behind such funny rules?
The article is entertaining and indeed very informative and educates the common traveller to the benefits of opting for travel insurance. However the article gives an extremely restricted view if the companies offering overseas travel insurance. In fact this insurance concept was introduced by general insurance subsidiaries and even as on todays date The New India Assurance Co underwrites the largest chunk of overseas mediclaim businee. It would be fair reporting if the author researches the service providers in the subject and gives the readers an honest and comprehensive view of the service providers. Or maybe this article is to promote overseas insurance business of some of the private insurers?????.
Hello, Its ok to have insurance but the insurance company doesnot pay the bill if the amount is below 100$.Only in major cases the insurance is helpful.
its true that insurance is not on most people's list. but i have heard instances within family & friends where a small amt paid for insurance has been a BIG help.
hope travellers factor this into their costing. its too small a price to pay really!!!!
