Investing in Art

The article makes an interesting reading. I'd like to add one more artist's name - Dr (Padma Shri) S V Rama Rao, an abstract painter of repute, based in Chicago. He visits India once a year. He's planning an exhibition of his paintings this year in Delhi and Mumbai. I'm sure his exhibits are worth watching for investment purposes along with those mentioned in the article like Hussain, Ganesh, Souza etc.

Art...Great Avenue
by Adv Zulfiquar Majeed on Mar 16, 2006 03:50 PM

I am a lawyer from Mumbai and I sincerely feel that Art can be a great avenue for investors who are ready to take calculated risks. I have been agressively investing in Mutual funds since last year and it has done good to me. Though I do not follow art at all, i think from a business point of view, one can do well, if the art investment is backed with adequate support, guidence from a friend, relative who may be an aggressive art buyer / reader/ follower. SO there is no harm to visit a gallery and get some gyaan on art. One good art gallery shares the same wall of my office. Since its next door, i may be paying my neighbour a visit today to find out about some good purchasable material.
