EXCELLENT DOSAS
by Meenakshi Karanth on Dec 05, 2006 03:39 PM

Agree with you Pratap. The dosas at Udupi Shree Krishna Bhavan, Balepet are truly the best in Bangalore. The new one in Koramangala too is really good.

Lenin
Aroma - Arcot Road, Chennai.
by Lenin on Nov 24, 2006 08:39 AM

Aroma though started as non veg restaurant in the 80's, later started to serve pure vegetarian food.

There are plenty of dish I've loved since my college days. You can get a bowl of Gobi Manchurian for Rs.15, which I loved it. My friends always loved the food here. Though I must admit the food is not quite like in the late 90's but still economical and nice.

My usual in Aroma is a plate of parota (3 nos for Rs.6) and Aloo Gobi Masala for Rs.12. They have variety of dishes priced from Rs.6 to 15.

The restaurant use to look good those days, but now it's more like a fast food stall. They also make fresh juices, lassi etc.

Masala Dosa @Udupi Krishna Bhavan
by Pratap Kodancha on Oct 27, 2006 01:47 PM

Udupi Krishna Bhavan is one of my favourite joint in Bnagalore. Their Balepet resturant serves awesome dosas, in traditional no frill way.. they have opened in Kormangala too.. which is also a good joint to get cool south and north indian foods.

Cosy at Cozee
by V.Chacko Jacob on Aug 16, 2006 03:33 PM

I think this joint would qualify for a street joint only that the street is the road on Elliots Beach, Besant Nagar,Chennai. This is one cool place to chill out. You can sit on any available table and order food from anywhere too. The food might take time to come but who cares. Eating food on the beach is also about looking at beautiful people moving around. My the time you get eye full - you get a good stomach full too. Cozee food is typical tasty north indian food at an affordable cost. The rolls are good too. This is by far my favourite street joint in Chennai.

Idli price
by venkat on Aug 14, 2006 05:06 PM  | Hide replies

The hotels are taking the public for a ride by selling idlis for Rs.7 and above. One can easily sell a moderate size idli at Rs.2 per plate and if like minded persons come together all the hotel will get a jolt.At the maximum the price can be Rs.3/ per plate and for dosa it would be Rs.6/-. The hotels like mruugan and saravana are just charging high prices. We can crash the market for idli and dosas and none can compete if like minded people join and start this business.
Big space is not required but someone should be honest and not look for profit from day one. Definitely we can penetrate the market for idlis. The coffee can also be made to crash.Milk price is Rs.7 per half litre and even if overhead charges are levied the price of one tumbler of coffee should not exceed Rs.3/-.The hotels are trying to exploit the public. We blame auto rickshaws for fleecing but the hotel people are fleecing the public to a great extent and noone cares about all this. The public should be watchful and ignore the hotels which charge high prices. The size of dosas have dwindled and charges are Rsa.18/- and even special dosas the size is same. We need a cartel to defeat the hotels to crash price
