nightlife for women

its not safe if alone, should have a safe company...
our culture is mixed culture neither Indian nor Western...
We can't judge the people here correctly..
Its always better to avoid going alone to a pub or a club or any kind of entertainment that involves no human sense or self respect...
Our Indians are utlizing the Western culture mostly for doing all bad & cunning and hopeless activities...

The question should not be "Is Nightlife for women is safe?"

It should be , which city is safe for people?

A city like Bangalore, No Never.
Its a un healthy city.
Its un safe even for men.

I dont think there are problem in other cities like Mumbai, Pune or Hyd.

The situation was worse in Delhi, but its better now.

Its the people's mentality.

Please comment.

Poor Law and order and lack of accountability
by Anand on Jan 24, 2006 06:54 PM

In India we just put up with injustice due to our inability to fight them & then blame innocent people to avoid responsibility. Blaming scantily clad women or women going out in the night alone is the most ridiculous thing to do. Do not rapes ever happen at day time or at the victim's home or to "well clad" women?? Blaming women is the easy way out to escape responsibility. Many cases are not even reported to save "family honor and prestige". Even those that are reported get dragged in the court and the kind of questions put up to the victim (who has already been traumatised) are so vulgar that the victim just gives up out of helplessness. If any criminal knows that the crime he is about to commit is not even going to get reported and he can get away scot free by exploiting an inefficient law system, then why will he not commit the crime? We are unable to improve the law and instead blame women for their clothing and venturing out!! Ladies, please use ur teeth & nails to maul the criminal mercilessly just KILL HIM. Use the loop holes in the lousy law to ur advantage. U can get away scot free too. Instil terror into the criminal's mind. Dont expect justice from our lousy system!!

Nightlife

The issue is not about whether women can go out at night. It is a sad truth that women cannot even go out alone even for legitimate needs which indicates deeper issues. There has always been double standard when it comes to rules for men and women.one may ask "what is the need for a woman to go out at night.Aren there men at home".A view like this does not indicate a progressive society at all. There has to be an attempt on the part of the people to look beyond that and understand that the whole issue boils down to a more deep-rooted gender bias.
The question of whether women can go or not should be a matter of choice and not compulsion. Also, because a woman ventures out at night,it does not give men any right to exploit, abuse her.For a few people in the society to say that a lady met with this fate because she ventured out at night is absolutely ridiculous.

Hi all,
Sorry If I might offend anybody....well fact is that only limited people in India respect girls...the rest think them as a object as mentioned before so as long as India improves there is only one option available...either stay home (which is impossible and stupid)...best thing is precaution...lot of these incidents could have been avoided had the affected people been precautionary...and also the police and every individual male who has repect for the opp sex should come to the rescue and must be always alert...thats the only way...it better safety than suffer

capital punishment
by Aman on Jan 10, 2006 08:47 AM

people who rape nd murdered should be given capital punishment without a delay. they are not deserve to live in country belongs to Gandhi and Nehru.Only way to prevent this crime is strict law has to be enforced. I feel very sorry to say in my country people get out of jails by offering bribes to police officers. Have we ever thought why police accept bribes? Again the culprit is government. Inflation is so high and salaries are very less, result we all see.
law and order is very bad in india. government should realise this immediately and should enforce strict law. I know some people will resisit it. Who will be these people? Come on guess.. of course Opposition parties.sometimes i feel shame to say i belong to this country.Come on guys lets make this country like developed countries.WE need help from government to enforce law.
Rapist should be given capital punishment if crime is cruel. If not capital punishement atleast rigourous punishment without any bail.Only way is to prevent crime. We need police officers like Kiran Bedi and KPS Gill.

aviod late night moving
by R.Vittal on Jan 10, 2006 08:39 AM

if you observe carefully you can note that 95% of the rape cases are owing to the careless behaviour of women. They go late in the night at lonely places or mingle with men whatever may be the reasons( may be due to ignorance of what may happen). If women expect that all men change their behaviour let them wait indefinetely for that to happen. No one can guarantee safety for women. They only safeguard themselves.
