I have been in Bangalore for almost 5 years now and after reading Mr. Sanjeev Anand's review on Brahmin's Coffee Bar, I decided to try my hand at the food, the article was written so nicely that i just could not resist myself from visiting the place. Vada was okay, but the greatest letdown was chow-chow bath!! As Mr. Sanjeev had mentioned there will be ghee dripping out of it, I had taken his word for granted, but what I got in return was totally opposite of it, sorry guys there was no ghee at all and i had to buy a microscope to find raisins!! As for the taste, it is the most ordinary food i have ever tasted in Bangalore. My humble request to Mr. Sanjeev Anand and likeminded people, PLS DONT WRITE SUCH REVIEWS. Your language is excellent, it made me imagine things but when expectations dont measure up to reality, disappointment is bound to occur and I owe not to even pass by that street!! One more thing, PLS PLS NEVER VISIT VIDYARTHI BHAVAN FOR DOSA. Brahmin's Coffee Bar and Vidyarthi Bhavan both are living and encashing on their past glory and nothing else!!
I would like to know whether any similar hotels are available in Mumbai city. Eventhough there are many south indian Udipi hotels, but the taste is not at all good. There is varied difference in good of south indian hotel in south than here.
Brahmin's Coffee bar is just unchangeable... i mean in the quality and taste of the food. As a person who has been enjoying the Idli and Kesari bath for the past 15 years, i find that the taste remains the same. I had been in Chennai for some time and all i can say is that, none of the hotels in chennai can match the idli and chutney here.
I am not sure but your description of the so called hotel reminds me of one that i visited couple of times in bangalore. The name of the place is Veena's and it is in Malleshwaram (not sure of the exact cross 13 or 14). But this place matches the exact description of brahmins corner. Try it sometime.
Two months back, three of us from Bangalore went to Kumbhakonam via Tanjavoor to have a temple darsan. We stayed in a hotel in Kumbhakonam very close to the Kumbheswar Temple. There is a big corridor at the entrance to the temple. Either side of this corridor petty shops sell A to Z. There was a notice Tiffin Ready. After darsan in the temple we came to this canteen. Idly, Pongal with chutney and sambar, mulakappodi {a tamilian favourite}and coffee or tea.We enquired whether meals are served there. From 10.30 onwards was the reply. We visited the other temples around the area and came to the canteen at 12 noon. Will you believe for Rs.20/- a full meal was served, Two vegetables, pickles, pappad, sambar, rasam two small side dishes. We three felt that we attended a wedding feast. Food was served on plantain leaves. Only requirement was that we have to carry the leaf after eating and put it in the bin. The cost of breakfast was still less.

A month back, four of us from Chennai went to Belur via Hassan. After seeing the temple we were very hungry and promptly went to a nearby small hotel. We ate Rotti with Chutney pudi (A karnataka favorite) with Curds. We also had some amazing idly and Butter masala dosae. The dosae was very good and i have never eaten such dosaes anywhere else. What's more, the bill was only 40 for four !! And we thought we were having some feast..

We have to appreciate his entrepreneurship and honest sense of business and this opulence is the result of his patrons at the eatery who would have blessed him, as the sanskrit saying goes " ANNA DATHA SUKHIBAVAHA".
