study in US?

Its just a matter of taking whats best from both our cultures. It has to be said that Indian education eqips us for all that hard work and dedication that is needed for a successful learning life in the US. The US higher education system is simply incomparable. I work in the field of special needs and the fact that India is a few light years in this is an accepted fact. In this day and age we continue to bicker about reservation in education etc etc etc for something that happened more than 50 years back. In the US it is based on merit and you are respected for the work you do. But that doesn't mean that I can't return to India and that I should be called 'wicked' for liking the US education system. Facts are facts and will remain so.

india v/s US
by Shantanu on Aug 30, 2006 04:58 AM

theres no doubt tht india has best of skool that are reputed in any industry across the world. bt what does it tk to gt into such skools...i left india a yesr back fr the dollars..nd i think the juice ws worth the squeeze...ppl cry and wry about how there is a brain drain, but think about it...had the country treated an average student like as its brain or make any efforts to retain me...my guess is zero..
nd yeah i read somewhere'bout prts, home, country etc etc etc...well her it goes...prts..they can come here fr a better living..home is where yur family is..country..u noble citizens r there to develop it 'coz i dnt think my country would ever need my help..
about the skools...how many skools in india spend millions of dollars to fund research..how many skools in india hire masters or PhD's to teach bachelors..my guess is 1-2%...how many indututries hire student to do R&D fr them and pay them a good stipend so tht they r nt dependent...again 5-10%..tht in the top level skools..if u wnt to progress in tht country..u hv to be super rich or super brains..i ws none so i came here...nd i think it ws worth it

Its true that Indian education is one of the best in the world but everyone will agree with me that the best of US schools are the best in the world. My school is rated the top second in US and I am not fooling people. You can look at the US ratings too (US news.com), and I know what research I am doing here none of my Indian counterparts would have known about for next 2 years at least. Education is the best part of US, its amazing, great research, great infrastructure, great money, no caste reservations and no hunger strike. Australia might be easy visa, UK might be easy admission, but none can beat the best education industry in the world, not in near future at least. I have learnt a lot here, and I would encourage everyone to come here and study once, its life time experience. Remember hard work always pays off.

Its of no use doing research and going to US for higher studies. Finally when u get to the job market, things are very different,no amount of higher education can prepare u.I am saying it from my personal experience. When someone says he is doing research,u can rest assured that the technology will be absurd and it is not going to come to the market any soon.

heyyy due,

its simple...
indian education is great for "EDUCATION" just teaching n stuff, n that too only at undergrad level (like IIT's and some gud NIT's), but wen it cums to hard core research at graduate level, india is nuthing in front of US or even Aus. coz its all abt money, to teach dusnt cost much, but to do research it costs $$... and india is a poor nation.... so thats wy we r always atleast 3-5 yrs slower than US to get to the same technology. i mean luk at the amt of funding that is given to stan, mit and then luk at lets say iisc in balgalore. its nuthing... n funding is proportianal to paper publications....

In response to the comment from Sandeep. No offense to you, but it's because of individuals who think like you there is no Google from India.

FYI Google is a Stanford spin-off, result of an PhD research.

Hey dude, dont mind, but why do you think so? If you are happy there then dont come here then. But dont forget only Indian education made you eligible for this. People like you will not be anymore useful to grow/develop India. Just leave India and your parents, please dont come back for any reason.
Kind request.

Why not India?

India is the place to be! When the whole world feels that Indian Education is one of the best then whats the point going to a country which is in a bad shape.

No to US Education and Yes to Indian Education.

can't believe this, the attitude. Indian education system aka the british system was desgined to produce clerks on mass level.
In my opinion there is no match to a good US school.

One more reason, when U can't get admission to any reputed institute in India, join some Pidloo Univ in USA and keep shouting from rooftop,"Hey! Look I am from best Univ of USA", and people would beleive too.
