The parent company is in India.some of the existing employees of the same company are send to work in its sister company at abroad for long term on return basis after wards. Please suggest what type a/c the company has to maintain so that the employees continuity in the company remains in India and they get the NRI satuas also.

FILING OF TAX FOR NRE -SHIPPING
by Lav on Mar 11, 2006 02:59 PM

Hi,
Thanks for the enlightining views for tax returns.
Pls clarify this 1) For shipping people.. if they have 182 days in a PY, earning in foreign currency form foreign company , remitted in indian NRE accoubnt, are they taxed.
2) Do they have to file returns for other income from indian sources.. like - stocks, MF'S capital gains, house rentals.
3) Does owning a land / property in india, force me to file taxreturns inspite of nre status due to nature of shipping job.

How do I plan my taxes being a returned NRI
by Ram Raju on Nov 29, 2005 12:38 PM

Hi
I was in US for 10 years (Aug94 to May2004) and returned back in May 2004 for good. I am working for a software company and am on US payroll.
As per tax laws as a returned NRI I don't have to pay taxes on outside India income for two years from my date of return. I will be completing 2 years on May 2006.
So going forward how should I plan my taxes as I won't be eligible for tax exempt starting May06?

Please advise.

Thanks
Raju
