Living alone

Hi guys,

I enjoyed my living alone days in Bandra Mumbai. The first thing I learnt was to cook my own food. I purchased a fridge, washing machine, gas oven, food mixer and the necessary cooking utensils. I loved cooking since the roadside food did not go well with me. If you want to save on food which is quite a bit, learn to cook.

Also I made lot of good friends and insisted on visiting them every so often so much so that I had the most friends in my group. Also my we all used to jam in my flat every weekend & holidays and have fun. That built good relationships. So, make as many friends as you can and visit them - do not expect them only to visit you - to oversome loneliness and homesickness.

Just in passing: Our friendships were so good and genuine that I permanently left one house key with my good neighbour with the instructions to give to any of my friends who would want it during my absence and they never once misused my trust.

Absolutely must thing to do , should be included on everybody's Dream List. Not only does it build character but also makes one self confident. I specialised in Advertising and went off to work in Leo Burnett, Dhaka for a year and half. Made very good friends who will stand by me no matter what. Understood and experienced the dilemas of a young nation being torn both ways politically as well as economically. As it was an Islamic nation handling oneself without inviting trouble was the objective. A single woman in such chaos could disappear very soon but on the contrary I learnt so much about my strength and capabilities it was a life changing experience for me and I have never looked back. I returned to Delhi and lived on my own with greater respect for my parents who had instilled the sense of judgement in me as well as for own self.

Though one should not want to live alone on alien surroundings but the circumstance such as education, job etc. makes one to live.No doubt you are master of your own there is no one to put check over you .But if you make better advances during this time than no doubt coming years will definitely bring you a rewarding career and happy life.
So enjoy every moment of life, the God has bestowed upon you.
Always be wise and beware of your friends who take no time to derail you.

This article is about living separatly/independently. Not about living alone.
For those who have lived away from home and family for decades.. this looks sickeningly sad..
