home loan interest deduciton not allowed
by Ranjit on Jun 21, 2005 12:39 PM

I am sure the query related to why the employer is not allowing deduction for interest if you are not residing in it is not comple.

The interest can be claimed as dedcution against nil Rent income only if the property is self occupied. You must unerstand, the interest is not a direct deduction from salary income. It is actaullay negative income from other house property and therfore to be considered for calcualting your gross income. You must state to your employer that the property is self occupied (may be for use of parents) but you are living in NOIDa because of professional obligation plus you can claim HRA exemption on rent payment for noida home. - Thanks ahluwaliarnajit@yahoo.com
