To cut a long story short: This "Mahila" card is a DEBIT card with an OVERDRAFT facility, something that has been overseas (Europe, US) for ages and, if I am not mistaken, has been in India for a while too. So, no one has "discovered America" here. I don't know what inspired rediff (product promotion, big cheques from sponsors) to write this looong essay thinking rediff readers are totally dumb down to grass eater level. One very important factor that hasn't been mentioned here (very conveniently) is the interest clock on such cards starts ticking from the moment you go on overdraft unlike, while using a credit card, you get 30-50 days interest free period to settle your credit card bill. So, the useful mantra is: Opt for the overdraft in your "Mahila" ONLY when it's absolutely necessary and if you don't have a "Purush"/ credit card (or insufficient fund in your credit card). Otherwise always use your "Purushatva"/ credit card.
That you guys should try to pull off this LUDICROUS PLUG !!, either your research is bankrupt, not to know that such cards have been in the market for a while or you really low esteem for reader intellect.
I am willing to be proved wrong, it will restore faith

Very true!!!!I completely agree with you.Such cards have been in use since long and the information sighted seems to portray them as something so new and different.
This is blatant unconstitutional hypocritical discrimination against men. I think one of the human rights groups or economic offences groups or such should take up this issue. RajeswaraRao
