I agree with you. MBA is a loser's course. But then considering we "losers" making all the money in the world, its not such a bad bargain after all :)
I believe the MBA student must do a lot of extra reading other than just his textbooks. So it doesn't really matter whether Peter Druker is part of the syllabus or not. the key here is innovating on Druker's or any other management guru's postulations and not just adding another book to the "I've read that" list.
Most B-Schools make the students read "The practice of Management" by Drucker and his other books as part of book review or assignment or anything like that. Sometimes it has to be forced, I only notice that Reading in general as a habit and that too general books such as Druker's has loosing interest in exponential terms.
getting into some good B-school is such a big challenge... and then once you are through... i guess its always better to have fince as major and marketing as minor because....cause focoursemarketing is selling.. but one can sell the ideas but finace gives you peace of mind by bening at one placerather than hopping over from place to place.....
Yes i agree that Drucker's books are very important to be understood. Not only MBA but whole of our education does not place emphasis on holistic knowledge. Two subjects that are developing very fast that give lot of importance to holistic knowledge are 'Theory of Constraints' and 'Systems thinking/Dynamics'.
Will would like to infor you that our college Alliance International College, a B School situated in Ooty has incorprated Peter Drucker\\\'s book in its first semester itself as we know th importance of his books.
