Budget for a wedding
by Joel on Oct 12, 2005 01:46 PM

I think the budget and the prices suggested by the author is meant for somebody from the sultan family in Brunei. Is he talking through his hat or jus got too intoxicated in a local wine shop last night before presenting this article. I think he is planning to every person who gets married to go bankrupt with his figures. A kind request for teh webmasters of rediff - cant you stop people from writing such crazy articles in rediff...

unbelievable

its unbelievable to know that people have to plan for such an expenditure.A priest getting 5000rs I think he could be a lakhpathi and more in a year easily with atleast 5 marriages a week and about cars there are people who get married and travel by the simplest form of transportation. Its better to organise things with the budget a family has rather than giving some fixed figures like the once in the article.

Foolish Expenditure
by Sandeep Sinha on Jan 05, 2005 09:13 AM

No where in the world is marriage such a costly affair. People go berserk in weddings and no one gains out of such a lavish expenditure. Marriages should be simple, solemnised at a religious place/court and one should understand the motives of getting married. Rather than spending a fortune on them the money can be utilised by the bride/groom for their future. FDs should be made and given to the bride/groom. Come on guys stop this foolishness as it does not serve any purpose in the long run.

Would someone kindly ask Tejal to familiarise him(her) self with a South Indian Brahmin, Chettiar, Nadar or a Reddy marriage before s/he writes another such article?

i wont be riding ghodis
by Suresh on Jan 04, 2005 07:26 PM

not everyone uses a 'ghodi' for their weddings. And from what i see all your estimates are made keeping in mind just one or two metro cites. Either give a generalised listing or just dont write such crap

Whose wedding?
by Virtirix on Jan 04, 2005 07:16 PM

Mr Tejal Kadakia,

You must have had Lakshmi N. Mittal or Sahara Group wedding when you suggest those figures.

Give us a break. Whose is going to pay Rs.5,000/ bucks for the Priest?
