My Say!!!
by RC on Aug 23, 2005 10:40 AM

I am a student studying abroad since the past two years (not in USA). I agree with the author that it has been an extremely enriching experience. In these two years I have grown to be independent and confident. I suggest every student MUST go out to study (may/may not settle outside).

Also, I must say, I have never valued India and its culture when I was in India the way I treasure it now.

Average article
by Nagendra Pratap Singh on Aug 23, 2005 10:03 AM

The article is too much based on US. Other countries do not have scholarships as abundant as there. Also for some countries its just a way to make money and admission is fairly easy.

Some countries have further relaxations for ex students when they apply for certain work permits or immigration papers.

"The average pay is between $6 and $8 ( approximately Rs 262 to Rs 349) an hour". This sure is attractive but I guess the house rent is like 120 $ per week on (a sharing basis)

As for the lifestyle, it depends. Actually lots of people have a very high living standard in India as well, still for the sins, you need to go overseas

Nothings rosy out there !!!
by yash on Aug 23, 2005 07:53 AM

Hi
This is Yash here.
I am from Mumbai , currently doins my masters in telecommunications in melbourne, australia.

To tell u the fact , life here is harsh ,since we arent as lucky as the guys in the USA.

No scholarships or internships here for international students.

Even the job scenario is not that convincing...i mean the part time jobs...

Very less on campus jobs and finding jobs outside is next to begging ....can u imagine been asked for experience for a dishwashing job or for that matter a cleaners job???

So u see not everything is that enriching!!!!!

by Gagan on Aug 23, 2005 02:20 AM

Come to think of it...wht anamika wrote was all about "indian association", "indian food" . Can anyone plz tell me how can it be an enriching experience if u go abroad and just stick with INDIANS!!! i mean i'm in new zealand since da past 4 yrs but i jst dont stick wid indians . one of the main reasons for most ppl for going abroad is to get to know other cultures and other ppl!!!!!!! and plz dun say that ppl dun scrub their bath tubs in india or they r lazy!..i would say the article was totally crap and is soooo not "ENRICHING"

Studying abroad is 'enriching'

Nice article,Anamika!
I completely agree that it is a totally enriching and rewarding experience. You become more open.
But what you choose to do with the opportunity you have totally depends on you.Nobody is going to push you like they would back home. You need to be self motivated. You have to decide and choose what you want to make of yourself.
The good thing is you can take your time ( of course, if you can afford it), explore different areas and pursue what really interests you.Itz never too late to pursue your dreams.Wish schools & colleges in India would give future students similar opportunities.
